communication.

INSTANT MESSAGES EXAMPLES
WHAT IS INSTANT MESSAGING TECHNOLOGY?
• Type of online chat
• Real-time text transmission over the Internet or
another computer network
• Messages transmitted between two or more
parties
• User inputs text and
• triggers a transmission to the recipient
• who are all connected on a common network
INFORMATION PROCESSING CYCLE AND
INSTANT MESSAGING (IM)
◦Open IM app. You use Telegram
◦Person to whom you send message – same
app as you (Telegram)
◦INPUT – type in the message on your device
◦Telegram communicates with servers to send messages –
PROCESSING and COMMUNICATION
◦OUTPUT – receiver receives messages.
◦COMMUNICATION between one or more users.
◦STORAGE – saved messages on sender and receiver’s
phone

◦IM can be used on computers and on mobile devices
◦Intranet - computer network for sharing information, easier
