PROGRAMMABLE

LOGIC CONTROL
INTRODUCTION :

• A PLC or Programmable logic controller,is an industrial computer used

to control machinery and processes. It uses a programmable memory
to store instructions and execute task like monitoring inputs,
processing data and controlling Output based on those instructions.
PLC’s are widely used in manufacturing and automation for tasks that
required reliable and precise control
HISTORY :

• PLC’s were first developed in the automobile manufacturing industry to

provide rugged and easily programmable controller to replace
hardwired relay logic systems.
• Richard (Dick) Morley, who invented the first PLC,the MODICON 084 for
general motors in 1968 and is considered as the father of PLC.
