INTRODUCTION
 Emotions are an integral part of experiencing the world.Emotion is a mental
state associated with the nervous system associated with feeling,
perceptions, behavioral reactions, and a degree of gratification.
 Facial expression recognition is the part of facial recognition and it's need is
increasing tremendously. Our system using neural networks is the
recognition of faces in images for various applications.
 Face detection can be used for surveillance purposes by law enforcers as well
as in crowd management.
 Now a days, interest in emotional computing has increased with the
increasing demands of leisure, commerce, physical and psychological well
being, and education related applications.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
 The goal is to design and implement software system that detects facial emotion for
frontal faces.

 The system should work on embedded platform.

 Collect multi view face with expression.

4
PROPOSED SYSTEM
 The proposed work carries out in three sequential steps as Face Detection, Face
Recognition and Face Classification.
 In the first step a video camera is used to capture the human face and detect the
exact location of face by a bounding box coordinates for the face detected in real-
time.
 This step involves face detection using Haar cascade detection with open CV
library.

SYSTEM REQUIREMEnTS
HARDWARE
 RAM – 4Gb or more
 Graphic - Intel

SOFTWARE
 Operating system - Windows 10
 Programing Language – Python

7
CONCLUSION
 The proposed work is designed to develop a real time system to detect,
recognize and classify human face emotion.

 The software used to test the functionality are Anaconda Spyder and
python 3.9.

 The performance measures are validated with the CNN model designed
with an accuracy of 72%.

8
FUTURE SCOPE
 Emotion recognition can be used to understand how candidates feel
during interviews and to measure how they react to certain questions.

 Emotion recognition can be used by different companies to gauge

consumer mood towards their products, brands, marketing efforts, staff
or in-location experiences.
