ADVERBS
Adverbs are words that
describe a verb, an adjective or
FOUR TYPES OF ADVERBS
● “She moved slowly and spoke
quietly.”

● “He opened the door


cautiously”
1.ADVERB OF MANNER

● The adverb of manner


modifies a verb to describe
the way the action is done
EXAMPLES:

● The girl ate the cake slowly.


● The girl dances gracefully
NOTE:
● Adverbs of manner form the
largest group of adverbs. We
make most of by simply adding –
ly to their corresponding
adjectives.
● “The cat is sleeping
underneath the couch.”
2. ADVERB OF PLACE

The adverb of place shows


where the action is done.
EXAMPLES:
● “I heard them talking downstairs.”
● They stayed inside the classroom
while it rained.”
● “She often goes by
herself”

● I will always love you.


3. ADVERB OF FREQUENCY

● The adverb of frequency


shows how often you do
something.
EXAMPLES:
● “They rarely see each
other.”
● “He always falls asleep
during class.”
● “I was absent yesterday.”

● We had a reunion last


week.
4. ADVERB OF TIME

● The adverb of time


tells when the action
is done.
EXAMPLES

● She left early.


● It is starting to get
dark now.
