INTRODUCTION

Agriculture is vital to the global economy, providing food, raw materials, and

employment for billions, particularly in developing nations where it significantly

contributes to income and gdp. However, pest infestations are a major threat,

causing up to 40% of crop losses annually, according to the fao. Pests such as

fungi, bacteria, viruses, insects, and rodents damage crops at various growth

stages, leading to reduced food availability and financial losses for farmers.

The costs of labor and pesticides for pest control add to the economic strain.

Additionally, lower crop yields can increase food prices, exacerbating hunger
PROBLEM STATEMENT

• Traditional methods of pest detection and control in agricultural fields are

often labor-intensive, inefficient, and prone to delays in intervention, leading

to significant crop damage and economic losses. Existing solutions lack real-

time monitoring capabilities and fail to provide comprehensive data on pest

activity, hindering farmers' ability to implement timely and targeted

interventions.
SCOPE OF STUDY

• Using radar technology, microcontroller-based data processing, and wireless

communication, we propose the development of an integrated pest

monitoring system to address this challenge. The system accurately detects

pest movement in farm lanes and fields, providing real-time data on the

direction, speed, distance, and angular position of detected pests; the data is

relayed to farmers' mobile devices via GSM communication, enabling prompt

response and intervention even when farmers are not in the field.
AIM AND OBJECTIVE OF SUDY

• Conducting an extensive review of the literature regarding the necessity of

this project.

• To design and develop an agricultural pest monitoring based system using

radar sensor and esp32 microcontroller.

• To implement the system prototype and test its efficiency.

LITERATURE REVIEW

• Studies have demonstrated the efficacy of advanced technology models in

predicting pest outbreaks based on environmental conditions like

temperature and humidity, reducing the need for frequent field visits. Low-

cost, battery-powered wireless image sensors have also been proposed,

offering high scalability, real-time data transmission, and minimal

maintenance. These sensors, integrated with image recognition algorithms,

accurately monitor pest populations and provide timely alerts to farmers.

METHODOLOGY

This project will be implemented using the following devices:

• Radar sensor {HLK-LD2410B kit}
• ESP32 microcontroller
• Wi-Fi module
• Servo motor
• Laser module
• Active buzzer
• LM7805CV{ 5V voltage regulator} & LM1117{ 3.3V voltage regulator}.
METHODOLOGY

• The integration of all these components serve a dire purpose as one

component compliments the next. The radar sensor detects movements of

pests on the field, the esp32 cam captures images, and video content that

sends data directly to your mobile device despite proximity to the monitoring

system through the use of the GSM/ WiFi module an additional safety

measure is implemented when the sensor identifies the presence of pests,

utilizing an active buzzer that emits an alarm to drive the pests away.
