What is Artificial Intelligence

 Artificial Intelligence is a branch of Science

dealing with the simulation intelligent
behavior in computer.

 It can do things that are considered

"smart." AI technology can process large
amounts of data in ways, unlike humans.
The goal for AI is to be able to do things
such as recognize patterns, make decisions,
and judge like humans.
Artificial intelligence examples

• ChatGPT: Uses large language models (LLMs) to generate text in

response to questions or comments posed to it.

• Google Translate: Uses deep learning algorithms to translate text

from one language to another.

• Netflix: Uses machine learning algorithms to create personalized

recommendation engines for users based on their previous viewing
history.

• Tesla: Uses computer vision to power self-driving features on their

cars.
GREEN REVOLUTION :
 A large increase in crop production in developing countries
achieved by the use of artificial fertilizers, pesticides and high-
yield crop varieties.

 The global population is expected to reach 10 million people by

2050, which means double agriculture production in order to
meet food demands which is 70% increase in food production.

 Farm enterprises require new and innovative technologies to face

and overcome these challenges.

 By using AI we can resolve these challenges.

HOW AI IS USED IN AGRICULTURE :

 Automated farming activities.

 Identification of pest and disease outbreak before accurrance.

 Managing crop quality.

 Monitoring biotic.

 Abiotic factors and stress.

 Machine vision systems and phenotype lead to adjustments.

 Yield mapping and predictive analytics.

AUTOMATED IRRIGATION SYSTEM:
EFFECT OF USAGE :-

 Reducing production costs of vegetables, making the

industry more competitive and sustainable.
 Maintaining(or increasing) average vegetable yields
 Minimizing environmental impacts caused by excess applied
water and subsequent agrichemical leaching
 Maintaining a desire soil water range in the root zone that is
optimal for plant growth
 Low labour input for irrigation process maintenance
 Substantial water saving compared to irrigation management
based on average historical weather conditions
AI-REMOTE SENSING :- Crop Health
Monitoring :
 Hyperspectral imaging and 3D
Laser Scanning are capable oof
rapidly providing enhanced
information and plant metrics
across thousands of acres with
spatial resolution to delineate
individual plots and/or plants
and the temporal advantage of
tracking changes throughout
the growing cycle.
 Conventional methods are often
time consuming and generally
categorical in contrast to what
can be
 The widespread use of Artificial
Intelligence allied with climate
change, population growth, shortage
of agricultural workers, and food
security concerns, propelled the argo
field into seeking even more
innovative approaches to increase
their yields.
 The picture here, suggests that
robots can play an important role in
control, but it can be expected that
the role of humans in analysis and
planning is increasingly assisted by
machines so that the cycle becomes
almost autonomous. Supporting this
is the projection of the agricultural AI
market from $519 million, by 2019,
to $2.6 billion by 2025, according to
a
Markets and Markets Report in 2019.
AI FOR HARVESTING VINE CROPS :-
What Is AI Crop Harvesting?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) streamlines traditional farming practices like

irrigation. It also improves modern ones like satellite imagery for
precision planting.

The following are some examples of technologies used with this

approach:

Data mining extracts patterns from large datasets to predict future

crops.
Pattern recognition finds similarities between different sets of data. For
example, it finds similar vegetation patterns in satellite images.
Machine learning uses data from past experiences to predict future
outcomes. For example, it knows how much fertilizer a given crop needs.
Image annotations for robotics labels images and data to train AI
systems.
Image annotation labeling improves the
efficiency and accuracy of the process. It
identifies relevant features of plants, fruits,
vegetables, and weeds in an image. Without
data annotation, there would be no algorithm
to know what to look for in a crop.

Image and video annotation label data to

make it machine-readable. This labeling allows
for more efficient harvesting methods and
fewer human workers. High-quality labels are
essential. They ensure that AI data is accurate.
farmers save time and money on manual labor
costs such as harvesting crops. Depending on
where they live, farmers may need personnel up
to seven months per year.
AI FOR AUTONOMOUS EARLY WARNING SYSTEM
FOR ORIENTAL FRUITS FLY(BACTROCERA
DORSALIS) OUTBREAKS

 This autonomous early warning system, built upon the basis of

wireless sensor networks and GSM (Global System For Mobile
Communication) networks effectively capture long-term and up-to-
the-minute natural environmental fluctuations in fruit farms.
 In addition, two machine learning techniques , self-organizing maps
and support vector machines, are incorporated to perform adaptive
learning and automatically issue a warning message to farmers and
government officials via GSM networks
Global System for mobile communication in Agriculture:
Design of GSM based weather monitoring system useful for agriculture
consists of different sensors such as temperature, humidity and soil moisture
Sensors are used to measure moisture content of soil, temperature level and
humidity level
Decision Support System(DSS) For
Field Prediction Using AI Techniques
 This System involves a set of Artificial intelligence based
techniques
 Artificial Neural Networks(ANNS).
 Use of artificial intelligence based methods can offer a
promising approach to yield prediction and compared
favorably with traditional methods.
 Machine learning (ML)-based crop yield prediction papers have
been synthesized.
 Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) is the most used algorithm
for crop yield prediction. Recently, deep learning, which is a
sub-branch of machine learning, has provided state-of-the-art
results in many different domains, such as face recognition
and image classification.
 These Deep Neural Networks (DNN) algorithms use similar
concepts of ANN algorithms; however, they include different
AI-DRIVER LESS TRACTOR
 A driverless tractor is an autonomous farm vehicle that
delivers a high tractive effort (or torque) at slow speeds for
the purposes of tillage and other agricultural tasks. It is
considered driverless because it operates without the
presence of a human inside the tractor itself. Like other
unmanned ground vehicles, they are programmed to
independently observe their position, decide speed, and
avoid obstacles such as people, animals, or objects in the
field while performing their task.
 Using ever-more sophisticated software coupled with off-
the-self technology including sensors , radar , and GPS , the
system allows an operator working a combine to set the
course of a driverless tractor pulling a grain cart , position
the cart to receive the grain from the combine , and then
send the fully loaded cart to be uploaded
AI FOR WEEDING
 Carbon Robotics is a leading agriculture
technology company that provides cost-
effective, efficient and sustainable
solutions for farmers. We pioneered our
laser-weeding technology as an alternative
weed control method that enables growers
to save time and money on one of their
most expensive and time-consuming tasks:
weed control.
 HortiBotis sprays exactly above the weeds.
 It is also cheaper than the tools currently
used for weed-elimination as it can work
extended periods of time
CONCLUSION
 AI can be appropriate and efficacious in agriculture in agriculture
sector as it optimizes the resources use and efficiency.
 AI saves the agriculture sector from different factors such as climate
change, population growth, employment issues in this field, and food
safety.
 The traditional methods that are used by the farmers are not
sufficient to fulfil the need at the current stage. Hence, some new
automation methods are introduced to satisfy these requirements and
to provide great job opportunities to many people in this sector.
