CHAPTER 3
Ms. Shel Israel
Research
Methodology
• Describes the research methods and
procedures, techniques, and sources of data
that help the researcher for further data
gathering, in paragraph form.
• Qualitative Research Methodologies, include
some level of interpretation from researchers
as they collect information via observation,
coded survey, or interview responses, and so
on.
Note: In research methodology part,
you must include what is your
chapter 3 all about.
Research Design

• Descriptive
• Correlational
• Causal-Comparative/
Quasi Experimental
• Experimental Research
• Descriptive
Used by scientists and researchers to gather information. This
type of research provides a detailed and accurate picture of the
characteristics and behaviors of a particular population or
subject.

• Correlational
investigates relationships between variables without the researcher
controlling or manipulating any of them. e.g. identified a
relationship between watching violent television and aggressive
behaviors.
• Causal-Comparative/ Quasi Experimental
identify cause-effect relationships between independent and
dependent variables. e.g. a researcher may wish to compare the
body composition of persons who have only trained with free
weights versus persons who have only trained with exercise
machines.

• Experimental Research
focused on the relationship between independent variables and
dependent variables. Uses random sampling to create a control
group and an experimental group.

Search Tips
Did you get the expected results? What alternative
combinations would also work?

Here are some things to keep in mind while

searching online or a database.

• Don't type up an entire question in the search box.

• Make sure you don't just look at ads or sponsored results.
• Use three to four search terms at a time to help narrow
down results.
