IRREGULAR PATTERN REGULAR PATTERN
IRREGUL AR PATTERN
MODEL
• Irregular pattern model is an arrangement of public space
that characterizes the stage of "Transition from village to
city" especially in Third World Countries.
• This urban model is due to lack of planning or
construction and illegal without a specific order and is
found in many rapidly built Third World cities.
• This model includes blocks with no fixed order; urban
structure is not related to an urban center or CBD.
• This irregularity in the urban layout is often a result of
rapid and unplanned urbanization where urban growth
occurs at a rapid pace without proper planning and
infrastructure development.
• This urban model is very suitable for ancient cities,
particularly in Africa, South America or Asia and some few
places in Europe.
The irregular pattern model in urban planning differs
from other urban planning models in several key ways
1. Lack of Centralized Planning: 4. Emphasis on Unique Context:

Comprehensive urban planning strategies can be employed to address
the unique characteristics and needs of irregular patterned cities
