• Boolean Search


 It is based on a method of logic developed by George Boole, a 19th century English mathematician.
 Most online databases and Internet search engines Support Boolean searches.
 It allows you to do effective searches by cutting out many unrelated documents and building a targeted search.
 With Boolean search operator you can get more specific result. (Till last page of our naukri search)
 Never use comma in searches.
 Boolean search operators are AND, OR, NOT, " ", *, ().
 Please note: Boolean search operators are always used in Capital.

• Below are Boolean operator types,

1. AND (or +) :
 It retrieves documents that contain both of the
 Search terms or keywords that you specify.
 The more terms you connect with AND, the fewer search results you will find.
 Use it for all your “Musts”.
 AND narrows your search.
 Both the keywords are considered in each profile/cv search.

• Eg: “Business Development” AND API = It will give cv/profile that contains both the keywords, Business Development and API.

 Using OR broadens your search.
 It retrieves documents that contain either of the search terms or keywords that you specify, but not
necessarily both.
 The more terms you connect with OR, the more search results you will find. (Remember: OR gives you
more!)
 Use it to search for similar terms.
 “|” sign (called as Pipe) can use as an alternative.
 Use it for alternatives of keywords.
 Either of the keywords are considered in each profile/cv search. Meaning it will give result containing both
keywords individually as well as together.
• Eg: “Business Development” OR API = It will give cv/profile that contains only Business Development, only
API as well as Business Development and API.

1. NOT (or -):
 Using NOT narrows your search.
 It retrieves documents that do not contain a search term in your search.
 Use NOT to exclude a term from your search and to find fewer results.
 Instead use “ ─ ” sign for it (On Google Only).
