Mrs. Farhana Bano
Introduction
1. What is Electronic Health Record?
EHR refer to digital versions of patients medical reports and details like lab
test results, prescriptions and etc.
2. Why do we need a EHR?
• Improved Patient Care
• Enhanced Coordination and Communication
• Increased Efficiency and Productivity
3. Problem definition
The primary problem addressed by this project is the need for a secure,
efficient, and decentralized framework for managing medical data in EHR
systems.
Existing work
Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission(ABDM)
• Launched in Sept 2021 by central govt of India
• Uses Federated data storage model
• Patient data is stored at the facility where it is generated & only an index to
this data is maintained at the central ABDM gateway.

Disadvantages of ABDM:
• Centralized Trust: Relies on the central authority for data management.
• Potential for Data Silos: Data sharing can be limited.
• Security: Vulnerable to attacks on the central authority.
Literature Review
• Ref [1] is explained about security/privacy provided by blockchain.
• The advantages and facilities provided by blockchain is provided in Ref
[2].
• Ref [3] explains the decentralization nature of blockchain.
• Ref [4] is about the secure data sharing in decentralized storage
system.

Proposed method

1.Develop a Web Interface for EHR

•Create a user-friendly web interface for patients and healthcare providers to access and
manage medical records.
2.Develop the Blockchain Framework
•Implement a blockchain framework to securely store and manage patient records.
3.Establish a Connection between Web Interface and Blockchain
•Use Ethereum to connect the web interface with the blockchain, enabling seamless data interaction.
4.Role-Based Access Control
•Implement role-based access control to regulate data access for medical staff and administrators.
5.Check the Results
•Test and validate the system to ensure functionality, security, and usability.

• We will be using MongoDB(NoSQL Database) as it can handle both unstructed and semi structured data.
Timeline for next review

Week 1-2: Design system architecture and choose blockchain platform

Week 3-4:Develop web interface for EHR
Week 5-6:Implement blockchain framework
