Stative verbs
 Descrevem um estado (State) e não uma Ação (Action).
 Conheço o John há 3 anos.
 I have known John for 3 years, NUNCA I have been knowing John for 3 years

 Stative verbs:
 thoughts and
opinions: agree, believe, doubt, guess, imagine, know, mean, recognize, remember, suspect, think, understand
 feelings and emotions: dislike, hate, like, love, prefer, want, wish
 senses and perceptions: appear, be, feel, hear, look, see, seem, smell, taste
 possession and measurement: belong, have, measure, own, possess, weigh, need.

 Uns verbos podem ser Stative ou Action:


 I have an old car. (state – posse)
 I'm having a quick break. (action – having a break é uma atividade)
 Do you see any problems with that? (state – opinião)
 We will see James tomorrow afternoon. (action – vamos nos encontrar com ele)
