INTRODUCTION

 Sampling and reconstruction are fundamental concepts in signal processing, especially for
low-pass signals.

Sampling involves converting a continuous-time signal into a discrete-time signal by taking

samples at regular intervals.

 This process is crucial for digital signal processing and communication systems.
Reconstruction, on the other hand, involves converting the discrete-time signal back into a
continuous-time signal.

In the case of low-pass signals, which have limited frequency content, sampling and
reconstruction must follow certain criteria to avoid aliasing and distortion.

Techniques like the Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem ensure that the original signal can be
accurately reconstructed from its samples without loss of information. Understanding these
concepts is essential for designing efficient and accurate digital signal processing systems.
Sampling Theorem for Low Pass Signals
The Sampling Theorem states that the sampling frequency must be at least twice
the highest frequency present in the signal to reconstruct a continuous low-pass
signal from its samples accurately

.
APPLICATIONS

1. Digital audio processing: Converting analog audio signals into digital

form for storage, manipulation, and transmission.

2. Digital image processing: Sampling and reconstructing images for digital

cameras, image editing software, and display devices.

3. Telecommunications: Transmitting analog signals over digital

communication channels by sampling and then reconstructing them at the
receiving end.

4. Medical imaging: Sampling and reconstructing signals in techniques like

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and CT (Computed Tomography)
scans for diagnostic purposes
CONCLUSION
 In summary, when dealing with low-pass signals, sampling must be done at a
frequency higher than twice the signal's bandwidth to avoid aliasing.

 Reconstruction techniques such as interpolation or low-pass filtering are then

applied to reconstruct the original signal from the samples, ensuring fidelity
and minimizing distortion.

 These processes are fundamental in various fields such as communication

systems, signal processing, and digital audio.

 Proper sampling techniques, along with suitable reconstruction methods like

interpolation or low-pass filtering, are crucial for accurately capturing and
reconstructing the original signal while minimizing distortion and artifacts.
