PRINCIPLES OF COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS (BEC402)
2022 Scheme (NEP 2022)
Sampling and reconstruction are fundamental concepts in signal processing, especially for
low-pass signals.
This process is crucial for digital signal processing and communication systems.
Reconstruction, on the other hand, involves converting the discrete-time signal back into a
continuous-time signal.
In the case of low-pass signals, which have limited frequency content, sampling and
reconstruction must follow certain criteria to avoid aliasing and distortion.
Techniques like the Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem ensure that the original signal can be
accurately reconstructed from its samples without loss of information. Understanding these
concepts is essential for designing efficient and accurate digital signal processing systems.
Sampling Theorem for Low Pass Signals
The Sampling Theorem states that the sampling frequency must be at least twice
the highest frequency present in the signal to reconstruct a continuous low-pass
signal from its samples accurately
