Individual Assignment
Assignment Title: "Future of Learning Delivery"
Assignment Description: Explore and express your views on the future of learning
delivery using multimedia tools and techniques. The goal is to encourage creative
thinking and critical analysis of emerging trends and technologies in instructional
design. Create a multimedia vision board that visually represents your ideas and beliefs
about the future of learning delivery.

What is instructional design?
Instructional design is a systematic process for creating effective and efficient learning experiences. It
involves the analysis of learning needs, the design and development of instructional materials and
activities, and the evaluation of the learning outcomes.

How do they do it?

Instructional designers use a variety of methods, theories, and principles to ensure that the learning
experiences they create are engaging, meaningful, and aligned with specific learning objectives.
What is multimedia instructional design?
is a specialized field within instructional design that focuses on creating
learning experiences that incorporate a variety of multimedia elements to
enhance the effectiveness and engagement of instruction.
Components and principles of multimedia
instructional design
• Integration of Multimedia: Multimedia instructional design seeks to integrate various multimedia
elements into the learning experience. These elements are strategically chosen to support the learning
objectives and engage learners effectively.
• Engagement: Multimedia can make learning more engaging and interactive by providing visual and
auditory stimuli. Engaging content can increase motivation and retention of information.
• Multiple Modalities: Leveraging multiple modalities (e.g., visual, auditory, kinesthetic) can cater to
diverse learning styles and preferences, making the instruction accessible to a wider range of learners.
• Interactivity: Interactive elements such as quizzes, simulations, and branching scenarios encourage
active participation and problem-solving, promoting deeper understanding and skill development.
• Adaptability: Multimedia instructional design considers the adaptability of content for various
devices and platforms, ensuring that learners can access materials on desktop computers, tablets, or
mobile devices.
• Accessibility: Designers must ensure that multimedia content is accessible to all learners, including
those with disabilities. This involves providing alternative text for images, closed captions for videos,
and other accessibility features.
• Storyboarding: The design process often includes creating storyboards to plan the layout and
sequence of multimedia elements within the learning materials.
• User Experience (UX) Design: Consideration of the user experience is crucial to ensure that learners
can navigate the multimedia materials easily and intuitively.
• Assessment and Feedback: Multimedia instructional design incorporates assessments and feedback
mechanisms to measure learner progress and provide opportunities for improvement.
• Media Selection: Careful selection of media elements based on their appropriateness for the learning
objectives and the preferences of the target audience is essential.
• Technical Proficiency: Designers in this field often require technical skills to create and manipulate
multimedia elements, as well as to use authoring tools and multimedia software.
• Evaluation: As with traditional instructional design, the effectiveness of multimedia instructional
design is evaluated through assessment and feedback to ensure that learning objectives are met.

The introduction of a pedagogical agent in a courseware will assist learners to understand the learning
content better. For example, you can create an agent like a Lego-Man. The Lego-Man can be created in
attractive colours; for example with red legs, green shirt and wearing a blue hat. An attractive agent
will be able to attract learners to keep using the learning application and hence increase their memory
retention.
Question
 Choose the correct statement.
a) The Lego-man is wearing a red shirt
b) The Lego-Man has green legs
c) The Lego-man puts on a blue cap
