• it is a process that helps one
person to make
communication effective and
to enhance the credibility of a
speaker
Major types of Communication Aids

A. Computer-based Media
-helps the speaker
to concretize and abstract
idea by creating and
presenting a PowerPoint
presentation his audience
- computer -based media is the
use of the computers to present
text, graphics, video animation
and sound in an integrated way
B. Audio- visual media

defined as training or educational
materials directed to at both the
sense of hearing and the sense of
sight
• example of these are films,
recordings, photographs, slides,
projected opaque materials, and
media
C. Low- tech Media

• these are communication aids that


are designed and can be used as
simple as possible
• examples of these are chalk or dry-
erased board, flip chart, foam,
poster board and handouts.
Functions of Communication
Aids
1. To concretize a point;
2. To deepen and facilitate
understanding;
3. To make learning more
permanent;
4. To keep the audience engaged in
the gist of the message;
5. To provide opportunities for
effective communication between
the speaker and its audience.
Preparing communication aids

1. Communication aids must be


surely seen and heard by your
audience and easily handled by the
speaker.
2. They must be done aesthetically.
3. They must be used purposively.
4. They must always be backed up.
