Summer Project

Report Presentation
Presented By Supervised By
Name: Upendra Deuba Er. Dhiraj Kumar Jha
TU Roll: 11692/20
Introduction
• The Bachelor of Information Management (BIM) program combines information
technology and management, offering a unique edge in the IT world.
• The summer project, a crucial part of the BIM degree, significantly enhances my
knowledge and skills.
• For my project, I developed a web-based e-commerce site for Kamana Masala
Udhyog, a prominent spice manufacturing company in Dhangadhi.
• The system offers a centralized platform for ordering spices, simplifying the
purchasing process and enhancing customer accessibility and convenience.
• Customers can browse and order from a diverse selection of spices 24/7, with
features like product and price comparison.
• Admins can approve or disapprove orders, and the owner can confirm orders via
phone call, ensuring accurate fulfillment and efficient business management.

Objectives
• To develop a secure web application
• To digitize the overall sales procedure of the organization.
• To maintain consumer satisfaction
• To make buying process faster
• To reduce time and effort
• To develop an easy and simple user interactive
website that is easily accessible and user friendly

Literature Review
● Challenges in Implementing E-Commerce Systems

Despite the benefits, SMEs face significant challenges in implementing e-commerce platforms. Cost of development,
lack of technical expertise, and resistance to change are common hurdles (Sila, 2013). Additionally, ensuring data
security and managing online transactions pose substantial risks (Kshetri, 2010). The literature suggests that
overcoming these challenges requires a strategic approach, including adequate training, investment in technology, and
a robust cybersecurity framework. For Kamana Masala Udhyog, these insights underscore the importance of careful
planning and resource allocation in the development of their e-commerce platform.

● Impact of Digital Transformation on Business Operations

Digital transformation, facilitated by e-commerce, profoundly impacts business operations. It streamlines processes,
reduces operational costs, and improves service delivery (Fitzgerald et al., 2014). E-commerce platforms enable real-
time inventory management, automated order processing, and data-driven decision-making, leading to enhanced
efficiency and productivity (Brynjolfsson & McAfee, 2014). For Kamana Masala Udhyog, a web-based system allows
for seamless management of orders, inventory, and customer interactions, ultimately boosting operational efficiency.
