only to realize you don't know how to create a
simple text file on your computer? Creating a
text file is easy and incredibly useful for
everyday tasks.
Step 1: Opening Notepad
• Notepad is a basic text-editing program that
comes pre-installed on all Windows
computers.

• Access the Start menu by clicking on the


Windows icon or pressing the Windows key.

• In the Start menu search bar, type 'Notepad'


and press Enter. Click on the Notepad
application to open it.
Step 2: Creating Your Text File
• In the blank Notepad window, start typing
whatever information you want to include in
your text file.

• Notepad is a plain text editor, so you won't


have any formatting options like bold or italics.
Step 3: Saving Your Text File
• Click on 'File' in the top-left corner, and select
'Save As.'

Desktop or Documents.
