INTRODUCTION
In the realm of modern healthcare, the management of patient records stands as
a critical yet often cumbersome task. Traditional systems for storing and
accessing these records are plagued by concerns surrounding security, privacy,
and interoperability. However, the emergence of blockchain technology offers a
promising solution to these challenges.

Blockchain networks depend on a healthy population of full nodes, i. e.

individual peers that store, verify and distribute the full set of data comprising
the blockchain—the history of all past transactions. And blockchains are
commonly advertised as being immutable, making it impossible to change or
erase already posted data. The idea we are submitting uses the method called
encryption and hashing to store the data in blockchain in an encrypted form so
that no one without the key should be able to see the content of blockchain
3 unless the permission is granted to the user.

DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION
ABSTRACT
This system presents a comprehensive exploration into the development of a
blockchain-based patient record system, aiming to address the inefficiencies
and vulnerabilities prevalent in traditional healthcare data management. Within
this context, the research focuses on the creation of a web application designed
to securely store and manage patient data utilizing blockchain technology.

By employing decentralized networks and cryptographic protocols, the

proposed system ensures the integrity, privacy, and interoperability of patient
records, thereby enhancing the quality of healthcare delivery. Through an
iterative process encompassing use case identification, privacy considerations,
smart contract integration, and user interface design, the development of this
web application strives to offer a robust and user-friendly solution for

4 healthcare providers and patients alike.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION
OBJECTIVES
1.Design web application capable of securely storing and managing patient records on a
blockchain platform.

2.Implement robust encryption and access control mechanisms to safeguard patient data.

3.Integrate smart contracts to automate key processes such as patient consent management,
access control, and insurance claims processing.

4.Enhance interoperability by facilitating seamless data exchange between healthcare

providers and other stakeholders, potentially leveraging standards like HL7 FHIR.

5.Conduct thorough testing and validation to ensure the reliability, scalability, and usability
of the blockchain-based patient record system.

DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION
SCOPE OF PROJECT

• The scope of the aforementioned blockchain project is expansive, encompassing various

facets of healthcare data management and patient record systems. At its core, the project
aims to revolutionize the way patient records are stored, accessed, and managed by
leveraging blockchain technology.
• By developing a web application tailored to securely store and manage patient data, the
project addresses key challenges such as data security, privacy, and interoperability that
plague traditional healthcare systems.
• Additionally, the scope extends to the integration of smart contracts for automating
processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and facilitating transparent and
efficient interactions between healthcare providers and patients.
• The project explores the potential for scalability and adaptability to accommodate the
evolving needs of healthcare organizations and the increasing volume of patient data.
