Creating a Cover Page (1 of 3)
• To Insert a Cover Page
− Display the Insert tab
− Click the Cover Page button to display the Cover Page gallery
− Click the desired cover page

− Click the Page Width button to display the page as wide as the document window
− Scroll to display the [Document title] content control in the document window
− Click the [Document title] control or its tag to select the content control
− Type the desired text
− Click the [DOCUMENT SUBTITLE] content control or its tag to select the content control
− Type the desired text
− Scroll to display the author content control in the document window, select it and then type the desired text
− Select the company control and type the desired text
− Select the address content control and type the desired text
− Pres END to deselect the content control

Creating a Cover Page (3 of 3)
• To Format Characters in Small Caps and Modify Character Spacing
− Display the Home tab and click the Font Dialog Box Launcher to display the Font dialog box
− Click an effect in the Font style list
− Click the Small caps check box in the Effects area so that each character is displayed as a small
uppercase letter
− Click the Advanced tab to display the Advanced sheet in the Font dialog box
− Click the Spacing arrow in the Character Spacing area and then click Expanded to increase the
amount of space
− Double-click the value in the Spacing By box to select it and type the desired amount
− Click OK to apply the changes

− Click a Heading Style in the Styles gallery to apply the selected style to the paragraph containing the

− Click “Remove Content Control” on the shortcut menu to delete the selected content control

− Click the “Go to Footer” button to display the footer in the document window

− Click the Page Number button to display the Page Number menu
− Click “Format Page Numbers” on the Page Number menu to display the Page

− Click the Number format arrow and then click the desired format

− Click the “Close Header and Footer” button to close the header and footer

• To Format Text Using the Font Dialog Box
− Select the text to be formatted
− Click the Font Dialog Box Launcher to display the Font dialog box
− Click the Font color arrow and select a color in the Font color gallery to change the color
− Click a size in the Size list to increase or decrease the size
− Click the Small caps check box in the Effects area to change the effect
− Click the Advanced tab to display the Advanced sheet in the Font dialog box
− Click the Spacing arrow in the Character Spacing area and then click Expanded to increase the amount of space
− Double-click the value in the Spacing By box to select it and then type a number
− Click OK

− With the bulleted list selected, click the Bullets arrow to display the Bullets gallery
− Click “Define New Bullet” in the Bullets gallery to display the Define New Bullet dialog
box
− Click the Font button to display the Font dialog box
− Click the Font color arrow and then click the desired color
− Click OK to change the color of the bullet character to the selected color
− Click OK to change the color of the bullet character in the selected list in the document

− With the insertion point in the paragraph to indent, click the Increase Indent button
to indent the paragraphs in the selected bulleted list
• To Change Right Paragraph Indent
− Click the paragraphs to format, position the pointer on the Right Indent marker on
the ruler
− Drag the Right Indent marker inward to the desired position

− Position the insertion point where you wish to insert the page break
− Display the Insert tab
− Click the Page Break button to insert a page break at the location of the insertion
point

• To Create a Multilevel List
− Position the insertion point at the location for the multilevel list
− Display the Home tab and then click the Multilevel List button to display the Multilevel List gallery
− Click the Character format in the Multilevel List gallery to display the current paragraph as a
multilevel list item using the selected multilevel list format
− Click the Increase Indent button to indent the list
− Type the first list item, and then press the ENTER key
− Type the text for the list item, and then press the ENTER key
− Press SHIFT+TAB to promote the current-level list item to a higher-level list item
− Press the TAB key to demote the current list item to the next lower level

− Select all the paragraphs in the bulleted list
− Click the Bullets arrow to display the Bullets gallery
− Click “Define New Bullet” in the Bullets gallery to display the Define New Bullet dialog
box
− Click the Picture button to display the Insert Pictures dialog box
− Navigate to and then select the desired picture bullet or click the Search button to display a
list of pictures that matches the entered search text
− Click the Insert button
− Click the OK button

− Drag through the paragraphs to be sorted
− Click the Sort button to display the Sort Text dialog box
− Click the OK button to instruct Word to alphabetize the selected paragraphs

− Position the pointer on the column boundary to the right of the column to adjust so that the pointer
changes to a double-headed arrow split by two vertical bars
− Double-click the column boundary so that Word adjusts the column width to the width of the column
contents

− Select the rows to change
− Click the Height box up or down arrows as many times as necessary until the box
displays the desired value to change the row height to this value
− Click anywhere to remove the selection from the table

− Position the pointer in the table so that the table move handle appears
− Click the table move handle to select the entire table
− Click the Center button on the Mini toolbar to center the selected table between the left and right
margins

− Position the insertion point at the desired location to add the row

− Click the Insert Below button to insert a row below the row containing the insertion point

− Click the Insert Above button to insert a row above the row containing the insertion point

• To Delete a Row

− Position the insertion point at the desired location to delete the row OR

− Click the Delete button and then click Delete Rows on the Delete menu OR

− Right-click the row to delete, click Delete Cells on the shortcut menu, click “Delete entire row” and then click
OK OR
− Select the row to be deleted, right-click the selected row, and then click “Delete Rows” on the shortcut menu

− Position the insertion point in the cell to contain the sum
− Click the Formula button to display the Formula dialog box
− Click the OK button to place the sum of the numbers using in the current cell
− Position the insertion point in the cell to contain the sum
− Click the Formula button to display the Formula dialog box
− Click the Number format arrow to display a list of formats for numbers, select the
format
− Click OK

• To Change Cell Spacing


− With the insertion point somewhere in the table, click the Cell Margins button to
display the Table Options dialog box
− Place a check mark in the “Allow spacing between cells” check box and then click
the up arrow as many times as desired
− Click the OK button to apply the cell spacing changes to the current table

− Position the insertion point somewhere in the table and then click the Cell Margins
button to display the Table Options dialog box
− Use the up arrows in the Top and Bottom boxes to change values, and use the up
arrows in the Left and Right boxes to change their values
− Click OK to apply the cell margin changes to the current table

− Select the columns to format
− Click the Distribute Columns button to make the width of the selected columns
• To Delete a Blank Paragraph
− Position the insertion point on the blank paragraph mark
− Press DELETE to remove the extra blank paragraph and delete the blank page

− If gridlines are not displayed on the screen, click the “View Gridlines” button to show
gridlines in the table

− Position the insertion point in the cell to split
− Click the Split Cells button to display the Split Cells dialog box
− Specify the number of columns and rows into which you want the cell split
− Click the OK button to split the selected cell

• To Split a Table
− Position the insertion point in the cell where you want the table to be split
− Click the Split Table button to split the table into two tables at the location of the insertion
point

• To Move a Cell Boundary
− Position the pointer on the cell boundary you wish to move so that the pointer
changes to a double-headed arrow split by two vertical bars
− Drag the cell boundary to the desired new location

− Select the rows to format
− Click the Distribute Rows button to make the height of the selected rows uniform
• To Insert a Column
− Position the insertion point where you would like to insert the column
− Click the Insert Left or the Insert Right button to insert a column to the left or right
of the column containing the insertion point

− Position the insertion point in the column to be deleted, click the Delete button, and
then click Delete Columns on the Delete menu OR
− If using touch, press and hold row to delete, tap Delete button on Mini toolbar, tap
Delete Columns OR
− Right-click the column to delete, click Delete Cells on the shortcut menu, click
“Delete entire column” and then click OK OR
− Select the column to be deleted, right-click the selected column, and then click
“Delete Columns” on the shortcut menu

− Select the cells to merge, click the Merge Cells button to merge the selected cells
into a single cell
• To Change the Direction of Text in a Table Cell
− Position the insertion point in the cell that contains the text to rotate
− Click the Text Direction button twice so that the text reads from bottom to top in the
cell

− With the insertion point in the table, click the AutoFit button to display the AutoFit
menu
− Click AutoFit contents on the AutoFit menu, so that Word automatically adjusts the
widths of the columns based on the text on the table

− Display the Table Design tab. Click the Borders arrow to display the Borders gallery
− Click “Borders and Shading” in the Borders gallery to display the Borders and

− Specify the desired border settings
− Click the OK button

Creating a Watermark
• To Create a Watermark
− Click the Watermark button to display the Watermark gallery
− Click Custom Watermark in the Watermark gallery to display the Printed Watermark
dialog box
− Click Text watermark option button to select it
− Select the text in the Text box and type the desired text
− Click Horizontal to specify the direction for the watermark
− Click the Apply button
− Click the Close button
