MACHINE LEARNING: DEFINITION,

TYPES, AND APPLICATIONS

By Shaurya Akhauri 8F
Definition of Machine
Learning
Machine learning (ML) is a branch of artificial
intelligence (AI) and computer science that
focuses on the using data and algorithms to
enable AI to imitate the way that humans
learn, gradually improving its accuracy.
Machine Learning was given this name because
it aims to make machines (computers) learn
just like humans.
Supervised Machine Learning
Supervised machine learning is a type of machine
learning where machines use labeled data. Labeled
data is a type of data where both the input (x) and
output(y) are given and the machine figures out a
function to link the two. This helps predict new values
and is used in fraud detection and spam filtering.
Unsupervised Machine Learning

Unsupervised machine learning is a type of

machine learning where machines use
unlabeled data. Unlabeled data is data in the
form of audio, pictures or videos. This is used
to detect anomalies or errors.
Reinforced machine learning

Reinforced machine learning is a type of

machine learning where machines use
feedback like rewards of penalties instead of
data to understand what to do. This can be
used in translation or summarization.
Importance of Machine Learning

Machine Learning is important because it can analyze

large amounts of data and make data-driven
recommendations and predictions without bias.
Machine learning is also rapidly becoming
necessary for data analysis and presentation.
Applications of Machine Learning

 Image recognition
 Language translation
 Traffic prediction
