If x = 40!, Then how do you find the value of + + …+?

Use change of base rule, we have logx n=

logx 2 + logx 3 + ….. + logx 40.
logx (2×3 ×4 ×….. ×40) = logx 40!
Given that, x = 40!,
log40! 40! = 1

A number 452p36 is such that it is divisible by 36. What can the value of p 2 be?

• For 452p36 to be divisible by 36, it must be divisible by 4 and 9.

• Divisible by 4: A number is completely divisible by 4 if the last two digits of the
number are divisible by 4.
• 36 is divisible by 4
• Divisible by 9: If the sum is divisible by 9, the result must be divisible by 9.
• Total digits = 4 + 5 + 2 + p + 3 + 6 ⇒ 20+p
• Divisible by 9 ⇒ 20 + 7 = 27
• 27 is perfectly divisible by 9, so the value of p = 7
• The value of p² will be 49.

The LCM and HCF of the three numbers 48, 144 and p are 720 and 24
respectively, find the least value of p.

Here the HCF is 24 which means that all three numbers will be multiple of 24.
48 = 24*2, 144 = 24*6, p = 24*a.
Also, Here LCM is 720 i.e. 720 = 24*30.
Hence, LCM(2,6,a) = 30.
So, the least possible number (a) will be 5.
Therefore, 24*5=120.
If log₂ [log₇ (x²-x+37)] =1, then what is the value of x?

The eqn. log₂ [log₇ (x²-x+37)] = 1 can be rewritten as log₇ (x²-x+37) = 2¹ = 2.

Using the definition of logarithms, we have 7² = x² - x + 37.
49= x² - x + 37.
Simplifying this equation gives us x² - x - 12 = 0.

To solve the quadratic equation, we can factor it as (x - 4)(x + 3) = 0.

Setting each factor to zero gives us two possible solutions:
x - 4 = 0 --> x = 4
x +3 = 0 --> x = -3
Find the number of perfect squares in the given series 2013, 2020,
2027,................, 2300 (Hint 44^2=1936)

The given series is an AP with common difference of 7. So the terms in the

above series are in the form of 2013 + 7k
Given that 44^2 = 1936.
•To find the next perfect square, add 45th odd number to 44^2.
•So 45^2 = 1936 + (2 x 45 -1) = 2025
•46^2 = 2025 + (2 x 46 - 1) = 2116
•47^2 = 2116 + (2 x 47 - 1) = 2209
•Now subtract 2013 from the above numbers and divide by 7.
•Only 2209 is in the format of 2013 + 7k. One number satisfies.
What is the 2006th term in the series 1234567891011121314…….?

• 1 to 9 = 9 no.s 1 digit each no.

• 9 to 99 = 90 no.s 2 digit each, Total digit = 90 × 2 = 180 terms
• Remaining 2006 – 189 = 1817, all are 3 digit numbers
• Therefore, 1817/3 will get quotient 605 and remainder 2.
• Number of 3 digit numbers starting from 100 till 699=600 numbers
• Remaining 5 numbers 700−704 we get total 1815 digits.
• Now 2006th digit in the sequence is clearly the second digit of 705, which is 0.
What is the rightmost integer of the expression 65776 759 + 54697467.

Last digit for the power of 6 is 6 (always)

Power cycle of 7 is 7, 9, 3, 1.
Now 467/4 gives a remainder of 3
Then the last digit is 73 = 3
Last digit is 6 + 3 = 9
In a meet, people from five different places have assembled in Bangalore High
School. From the five places the persons come to represent are 42,60,210,90 and
84. What is the minimum number of rooms that would be required to
accommodate so that each room has the same number of occupants and
occupants are all from the same places?

All the students from each have to be accommodated in a certain number of

rooms.
There should be no person left over (remainder) from any places who can be
clubbed together with the persons left over from other places.
To have the minimum number of rooms, the capacity of each room is HCF of all
the numbers.
HCF(42,60,210,90,84)=6
Thus Min number of rooms =(42+60+210+90+84) / 6=81
[Data Comparison]
In the question, two quantities I and II are given. You have to solve both the
quantities to establish the correct relation between Quantity-I and Quantity-II and
choose the correct option
Quantity I: Find the value of ‘x’ if 2x2– 29x + 104 = 0.
Quantity II: Find the value of ‘y’ if 5y2 – 36y + 36 = 0.

• Quantity I: • Quantity II:

• 2x2 – 29x + 104 = 0 • 5y2 – 36y + 36 = 0
• 2x2 – 13x – 16x + 104 = 0 • 5y2 – 6y – 30y + 36 = 0
• x(2x – 13) – 8(2x – 13) = 0 • y(5y – 6) – 6(5y – 6) = 0
• (x – 8)(2x – 13) = 0 • (y – 6)(5y – 6) = 0
• x = 8, 13/2 • y = 6, 6/5
Compare the relation of x & y, X > Y
What are the last two digits of 72008?

• 7^1 =07
• 7^2=49
• 7^3=343
• 7^4=2401
• the last two digits repeat after every 4 cycles.
• As 2008 is exactly divisible by 4 with remainder 0,
• So the last two digits will be 01.
Ratio of ages of A and B, 8 years ago was 5:4 respectively. If present average age
of B and C is 38 years and age of C after 24 years will be 20% more than age of
A after 2 years. Find the ratio of present age of B to present age of C.

Let age of A and B, 8 years ago was 5x years and 4x years respectively.
Present age of C = ‘y’ years
So, 4x + 8 + y = 38 × 2 = 76 => 4x + y = 68 1
And, y + 24 = 1.2 × (5x + 8 + 2)=> y + 24 = 6x + 12=> y=6x-12 à2
Substitute, y in eq à1. 4x+6x-12 = 68
Solve will get, x = 8
So, present age of B = (4 × 8) + 8 = 40 years
Present age of C = 6(8) - 12 = 36 years
Desired ratio = 40:36 = 10:9
The average weight of a class of N students is 47kg. If 8 students with average
weight of 53kg leave the class and 3 new students with average weight 56kg join
the class, the average weight of the class decreases by 0.6kg. What is the number
of students in class now?

• Total weight initially = N × 47

• Total weight of class now = (N – 8 + 3) × (47 – 0.6) = (N – 5)46.4
• N × 47 – (8 × 53) + (3 × 56) = (N – 5) × (46.4)
• N = 40
• Number of students in the class now = N – 5
• = 40 – 5 = 35
6 years from now ratio of age of A and B will be 4 : 5 and the ratio of age of B
and C, 4 years ago, was 7 : 8. If B is 5 years younger to C, what is the present
average age of A and C?
6 years from now, let the age of A = 4k, so age of B = 5k
Present age of B = 5k – 6, Age of B 4 years ago = 5k – 10
Ratio of age of B and C, 4 years ago = 7x : 8x
B is 5 years younger to C, so 8x-7x= x=5
B and C, 4 years ago = 7x : 8x = 35 : 40
Present age of C= 40+4 = 44
Age of B 4 years ago = 5k – 10 = 7x
5k - 10 =35,then k=9
Present age of A = 4 × 9 – 6 = 30,
Present average age of A and C = (30 + 44)/2 = 37
The 3rd and 7th terms of an arithmetic progression is 143 and 399 respectively.
Find its 15th term.

• Let the first term and common difference of the series be ‘a’ and ‘d’
respectively
• According to the question, {a + (7 – 1)d} – {a + (3 – 1)d} = 399 – 143
• 4d = 256
• d = 64
• Therefore, a = 143 - 128 = 15
• Therefore, 15th term of the series = a + (15 – 1)d = 911
