Digital Photography

A form of image capture and processing


that involves taking picture with a digital
camera, smartphone or other digital devices.
It used electronic device called a digital
camera to capture a image.
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the discussion the students should
be able to;
a.) Discuss the importance of Digital Photography
in modern age.
b.) Understand the uses of Digital Photography in
Law Enforcement.
c.) Appreciate the use of Digital Photography in

Where we can use Digital Photography?

Digital Photography is used to capture an image, which


is then saved as a digital file on a memory card or other
storage device. The Digital File can be transferred to a
computer or other device for viewing, editing, and sharing.
What is the purpose of Digital Photography?

Similar to film photography, digital photography


serves a similar function. “The capacity to record
life’s significant moments is often cited as the main
justification for taking pictures.” Nowadays,
photography has a wide range of uses, both for
business and for pleasure.
What are the Importance of Digital Photography
in a modern age?
Photography has impacted society in various way
throughout it’s long lifespan. The origins of photography
way back was very different, the first camera before were
unable to capture the image. But now as technology
continues develop the face of photography and the quality
of the images was impound. As digital cameras and
mobile phones became more advanced and they are able
to produce higher-quality images, capture multiple
photos.
What are the purpose of Digital Photography in Law
Enforcement?

- It allows a crime scene photographer to instantly


review their photos and make changes to the camera
settings if needed to capture the best possible image while
still on the scene. It document what is there and what is
the relationship to the scene, whether it is obviously
connected to the crime or not.
Uses of Digital Photography in Law Enforcement

1. Automated Fingerprint Identification System


(AFIS) - A high speed, high capacity image
processing system that enhances the ability of the
latent fingerprint examiners to the search and
identify crime scene evidence.
2. Crime scene reconstruction

Use a scientific method, physical evidence ,


deductive and inductive reasoning . Use to determine
the series of events that occured at a crime scene.
Used an actual photographs taken at the crime scene.
3. Computerized Composite Facial Sketching

A computer that generated image based on actual


description of a witness or victim. An example of this is
the Facial Automated Composite and Editing System
which means " faces" . The face is built not from
drawing or sketches but on actual photographs from
database.

Copyright Law - when you need to show an
evidence make it sure that your evidence is truly
yours. In order to super stand or accomplish your
investigation.
