Art Institutions Run by Private Entities


• Corporation may be running the art institution either as part of its corporate social
responsibility initiatives or through a foundation attached to it.
• It can be run by foundations whose board are well positioned to support because
they have the necessary financial means and social connections to do so
(philanthropic in nature).
• The physical location can be an office, art center, music hall or auditorium
situated inside a leisure and real state complex, a school or a separate physical
structure.

• The manpower support and rosters of experts are funded by the corporation or
philanthropic individuals.
• The decision concerning the art forms to promote or feature undergoes a rigorous
process where pool of experts may be consulted but the final decision rests on the
member of the board.
• Corporation and foundations can support artists on a long-term or short-term
basis, sponsor competitions and publish materials about artists and their artworks.
• Example: The Ayala Museum, run privately by the Ayala Foundation Inc., houses
permanent exhibits of rich archeological artifacts and historical collections.

• Creative industries are entrepreneurial ventures under leisure
and entertainment with a strong service component.
• Arts forms can be packaged as a segment of an event,
festival, tour package, branded content, design and any
content in exchange of monetary value.

Artist Run Initiatives


• May exist as a for-profit venture in the form of an art gallery, art
studio, a publishing venture, a musical production, a group of
professional musicians, dance group and so on who negotiates
directly with the patron.
• Artists are in charge of administrative operations, may employ
support staff but the manpower is very minimal.

partnerships and networks with international entities.
• Example: The BenCab Museum serves as home to National

among others.

• The number of manpower support and experts depends on the
scale at which the venture operates.
• Entrepreneurial venture can always transact with international
partners and clients. It is an elaborate system of profits and
commissions.
• It can have a physical location that they can call their office,
gallery, showroom, studio and so on.
