How to Apply the Bible to

our Daily life?

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper
Heb. 4:12

than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul

and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the
thoughts and intents of the heart.
Live as a Christian
 The Christian life is not just about getting to heaven in the
future. It is also, in the present, about growing more and
more into the likeness of Jesus Christ. A crucial means of
this growth is regularly reading the Bible with a view to
living out what it says—that is, applying it.
 The Bible becomes relevant as the Holy Spirit, who dwells
in all Christians, uses the words of Scripture to sanctify us.
Down through human history, moreover, God remains the
same—as do God’s call to holiness, the reality of sin, and
the need for redemption. While our outward circumstances
vary greatly, the Bible deals with issues that never change.
It is a book that remains ever relevant to our lives today.
How God’s Word Come to
us?
 The primary way in which the Word of God comes to us is
simply by reading it for ourselves. As we prayerfully and
meditatively read the Bible, the Holy Spirit uses what we
are reading to calm our fears, and stir our minds to ways we
can walk more faithfully with God. It can also come to us
by hearing it or attending bible study.
 Ps. 1 [whose] delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his
law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by
streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its
leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers”
A Call
 We are called to apply the bible teaching to all areas of our
lives. To do so a Christian should prayerfully and carefully
meditate on what is read.
 As we reverently consider what God is saying in a
particular text, we ask the Lord to illumine our minds, bend
our wills, and strengthen holy desire, all to the end of the
sincere practice of godliness.
 To help us in our application of a particular passage of
Scripture, we can do the following:
Put a Title and a verse
John 1,2, 3
 Makes me reread and find out
 Sometimes it’s more than 1 title
 True light 1
 Cana of Galilee2
 Entering the temple2
 Which sign2
 A verse about each title
 Nicodemos and John witness for Jesus3
Enquire why?
Genesis 3:1-12
 Create about 10 questions about the chapter
 Why would the serpent ask Eve? Liar
 Why did eve answer the serpent? Less wisdom
 Why did the serpent say you’ll not die? Fear not of sin
 Why was the tree more attractive? The serpent talk
 Why did they feel the need to cover?
 Why did God ask Adam where are you? Trying to have him
confess
 It helps understand. Seek help if you don’t find the answer to your
why.
What if? Luke 15:11-32
 Applies for stories but can apply to all passages
 What if helps understand the situation eg: Prodigal son
 What if the father refused? Would still take but not return
 What if the money did not finish? He may not return
 What if he did not come back to himself? Never saved
 What if dad did not reaccept? Our heavenly father always do
 What if he did not celebrate? May not have had comforted
 What if the older hugged the younger? Was going to be much
sweeter
When, Where, How, What
When and where did he meet the Samaritan?

Midday same time like crucifixion ( to save )

Outside at the will ( less traffic ) beside the water to talk about
the living water

How did He communicate? How He approached her gently and

gained a soul and a town

What did she have in hand? Forgot all about at the end
Promise, Command,
Allegory, Facts
 Sermons specially like Math 6: 24-34, Deut. 10:12-22
 Don’t worry about food or clothes, don’t worry about
tomorrow (command)
 Seek first God’s kingdom (command)
 Solomon in all his glory did not wear like it (fact)
 All will be given to you on top (promise)
 Solomon and the flower (allegory)
 Who of you can add 1 foot to his height. (fact)
Focus
 If, if not, unless, whoever does or does not, repeating,
contrast, question is it in need of answer?
 John 17:9
 What word or phrase repeated more often? world, I, you,
not from the world as I’m not.
 The wise and foolish
 Gabriel and St. Mary and Zachariah: St. Mary needed an
answer but Zachariah was denying
Pray the Bible
 The vine and vinedresser pray pray pray
 The beatitudes pray pray pray
 Cana of Galilee
 Saul the king
 David the king
What would you do if it
were you?
 Gideon (Judges 7)
 If you were Gideon
 If you were one of the fearful
 If you were one of the brave
 The enemy who saw the nightmare
 Would you believe the message
 Ananias and Sapphira
 St Paul after being stoned
 If you were in jail with Onesimus
Ask After
 Is there any truth about God for me to know?
 Is there any example for me to follow?
 Is there any command for me to obey?
 Is there any sin to forsake?
 Is there any promise for me to claim?
 Did I find Jesus or relate to Him in this passage?
