PROBLEMS FACED BY THEM

Availability of Branded Products:

Consumers have different preferences of brands, some of
which are not available at times! Then it becomes difficult
to make those available due to which the store owners lose
their customers.

 Quality Issues: Sometimes products received

from vendors are not of good quality and hence the
customer is not ready to buy those products which results in
the loss of income.

 Perishable products: These products have

shorter life span and hence has to be sold completely within
a specified period of time. Thus limited stock is kept. If
there are less customers then it results in wastage and if
there are more customers then it results in loss of revenue.
 Issues with carry bags: Customers
do not bring bags and hesitate to pay for
carry bags, thus resulting in loss of revenue
and affects customer retailer relationship.

 Storage Issues:
 Limited Space: Limited stock, intense packing of
stuff.

 Tight Packing: Intense packing of products like

biscuits, wafers, etc leads to damage thus creating
loss.

All these damages result in loss which shop

owner has to bear.
Weather Conditions: Bad weather conditions
lead to damaging the product. For ex: In rainy season due
to extra moisture in atmosphere, ready snack items and
biscuits which makes them moist are not suitable for
selling.

Payment Issues: Customers face problems with

payment such as online payment is not accepted, if online
payment is available then many a times, there are network
issues, etc. Storeowners refrain from taking online
payments as they fear the payment may get delayed or may
not happen due to some technical issue.

Delivery: Lack of delivery system. Due to shortage

of staff , door to door delivery is not possible.
PROPOSED SOLUTION: COMMON PLATFORM

• An app based common platform between the grocery store owners can be created where
information related to availability of products can be shared, delivery mechanism is
established and concerns related to quality can be addressed.
• When a customer approaches the grocery store and asks for a particular product, and the
product is not available at the store, the owner of the store can make it available by using
the platform from another nearby store where the product is available. This way, the store
owner does not lose his customers and makes sure that the customers gets the products that
they want.
• Using this solution the delivery problem can also be solved. All the retailers on the
platform can use the same delivery mechanism which has been established on the platform
for their doorstep deliveries. This will help particularly to store owners who has limited
workers and cannot allocate their time for deliveries.
• Through this common platform, following
problems can be solved.
 Availability of Branded Products
 Quality issues
 Storage Issues
 Delivery
