A health-drink company in R & D department is trying to Practice Questions
make various diet formulation, which can be used for
certain specific purpose. It is considering a choice of 5
alternative ingredients (O, P, Q, R and S), which can be
used in different proportions in the formulations. The
table gives the composition of these ingredients. Cost per
unit of each of these ingredients is O: 150, P: 50, Q: 200, R:
500, S: 100.
Q10 Which among the following is
(A) P & Q
the formulation having the lower
cost per unit for a diet having at (B) P & S Q11: In what proportion P, Q and S should be
least 10% fat and at least 30% mixed to make a diet having least 60%

by mixing two ingredients.
(D) Q & S (A) 2:1:3 (B) 2:1:4 (A) 3:1:2 (B) 4:1:1
Lowest cost is of P.
R has the maximum cost. To make diet with at lest 60% carbohydrate we can
P & S are cheapest ingredient but use option (B) and (E) only, but the lowest cost per
fat% is 0. unit can be given by when P, Q and S are mixed in
So, formula can be made from Q & the ratio 4 : 1 : 1.
S. Cost for options are 600, 700, 550 & 500
respectively.

Q12 The company is planning to launch a
balanced diet required for growth needs of
adolescent children. This diet must contain at
least 30% each of carbohydrate and protein, no
more than 25% fat and at least 5% minerals.
Which one of the following combinations of
equality mixed ingredients is feasible?
(A) O & P
As the ingredients are mixed in
equal amounts, so we can take (B) R & S Q13 For a recuperating patient, the doctor
the average of the constituent % recommended a diet containing 10% minerals
of the element used. (C) P & S and at least 30% protein. In how many different
O & P -> protein = 25% ways can we prepare this diet by mixing at least
(D) O & S
R & S -> carbohydrate = 25% two ingredients ?
P & S -> minerals = 2.5%
(A) 1 (B) 2 (C) 3 (D) 4
Only O and S satisfies all the
conditions.
As the diet should contain 10% minerals and only
two ingredient contain 10 minerals i.e. O and Q.
hence, only be mixing O and Q a diet with 10%
minerals can be formed. Hence, there is only one
way.

Q17: The number of students scoring less than 40%

marks in aggregate is?

Q18 If it is known that at least 23 students were eligible

for a Symposium on Chemistry, then the minimum
qualifying marks in Chemistry for eligibility to
Symposium would lie in the range?
(A) 40-45 (B) 30-40 (C) 20-30 (D) Below 20

Since 66 students get 20 and above marks in Chemistry and

out of these 21 students get 30 and above marks, therefore to
select top 23 students in Chemistry, the qualifying marks
should lie in the range 20−30.
