Introduction
What is RobotStudio ?
 An offline robot programming software package by ABB for
programming all robots that run on S4 and S4C controllers.
 Off-line controller -Virtual Mode- IRC5- Offline programming.
 On-Line controller- Real controller IRC5- Online programming.
 Virtual controller- A software that emulates a Flex Controller to
allow the same software (The Robot Ware ) to run on a PC.
 RobotWare system- A set of software files that, when loaded
into a controller ,enables all functions, configurations, data and
programs controlling the robot system.

Installation procedure
 Search in Internet with key words like
‘‘ABB Robot Studio‘‘
 Or, Type the web address shown below...

 Click on the ‘Save‘ button and specify a location on


your system to Save the file.

 Robot Studio file will start downloading...


 Its about 1.8 GB file
 Be sure that Internet will not be disconnected.

The file will be downloaded in the WIN-RAR ZIP file format


Next, right click and Unzip or extract the files to a folder.

Select the Windows Installer file– Open this file to start installation.

Click the select button and press yes when asked ...

Select the Windows Installer file– Open this file to start installation.

Read and Accept the agreement and the proceed to next button ...

Read and Accept the privacy statement

Click the next button to start installation...

Click the setup type as complete and then press next button...

Now ready to install.. Press Install button..

It takes few minutes to install all the files...

Press the Finish button to finish the installation procedure...
An ICON will be created on the desktop or in the start menu after
this.. Click on the Robot Studio Icon created to open Robot Studio..

Click the Automatic Activation where you do not need any license
key and proceed... And press next...

Give projects name..and project storage location. Mention the Manipulator name..for
Eg,. IRB_52_1.20m, ...and then click creat e to create and start working on the project..

This is howthe newly created RobotStudio Project window looks...We will learn in detail
about the tools in the next lecture...
