AASTU MAP
Navigating Campus: A Freshman-Friendly Map for Our
University"

Group-4
Introduction

● Our project aims to create a user-friendly map specifically designed for the incoming freshman at
our university. The purpose of this work is to provide a comprehensive and easy-to-navigate map
that will help new students familiarize themselves with the campus layout and key locations. The
application domain background involves the integration of technology and user experience design
to enhance the onboarding process for new students
Background of Preexisting System:

● Currently, the university doesn’t provide a map. Google maps have basic map of the campus, but
it lacks detailed information and interactive features that would benefit new students. Our project
aims to build upon this existing system and improve the overall user experience.
Stakeholders::

● Incoming freshman
● University administration
● Campus tour guides
● Student orientation leaders
Data Gathering Technique:

● We plan on utilizing a combination of surveys, interviews with current students, and observations
of campus navigation patterns to gather data for our project. Surveys will be distributed to
incoming freshman to understand their specific needs and preferences when navigating a new
environment. Interviews with current students will provide valuable insights into common
challenges faced by new students. Observations will also allow us to identify high-traffic areas
and potential points of confusion on campus.
List of Requirements

● Interactive map with zoom and search capabilities

● Detailed information on key campus buildings and facilities
● Integration with university calendar for event notifications
● User-friendly interface accessible on mobile devices
● Customizable features for personalized navigation experience
List of Requirements:

Functional requirements: Non-Functional requirements:

● Interactive Map ● User-Friendly Interface

● Directions ● Performance
● Points of Interest ● Mobile Compatibility
● Integration with GPS ● Scalability
● User Feedback
● Ability to search for specific buildings or
locations
Challenges Faced:

During the elicitation process, we expect to encountered challenges related to conflicting stakeholder
requirements and limited resources for data collection. To address these challenges, we plan to
conducted additional stakeholder meetings to prioritize requirements and streamline the data gathering
process. We also plan to leverag existing campus resources, such as student organizations and
academic departments, to gather more comprehensive data on campus navigation needs.
