Experience - Understanding User Experience - Defining the UX

Design Process and its Methodology - Research in User Experience

Design - Tools and Method used for Research - User Needs and its

USER EXPERIENCE (UX)
• Is a crucial aspect of design and technology that
focuses on enhancing the overall satisfaction and
usability of a product or a service
• It refers to the overall experience and satisfaction
that a user derives from interacting with a product,
service, or system. It encompasses every aspect of
the user's interaction, including their perceptions,
emotions, behaviors, and attitudes before, during,
and after using the product or service.
USER EXPERIENCE (UX)
• Is important because it tries to fulfill the user’s
needs. It aims to provide positive experiences
that keep a user loyal to the product or brand.

• Step – 1: Outcome
A good understanding of the Design Strategy and
objectives of the Organization. This would guide
you on how to carry on User Research.
Two Research Methods
• Qualitative Research :
The researcher collects verbal, behavioral
or observational data which is interpreted to
get insights.
• Focus Groups
• Contextual Interview (1-on-1 interaction)
• User Interview (2 UX researchers)
• Ethnography Study
Two Research Methods
Two Research Methods
• Quantitative Research :
Structured way of collecting and
analyzing data in numeric form. Analysis,
interpretation and presentation of numerical
data is done by using Statistical techniques .
• Survey
online questionnaire
face-to-face interview
telephone interview
Ethnography Study
• Observing a group of children playing
A researcher can observe a group of eight elementary school
children playing on a playground to understand their habits,
personalities and social dynamics.
Researcher observes one child each week over the course of
eight weeks and notes their preferences, like the toys and
playground equipment they use the most.
The researcher then observes their actions to determine any
recurring behavior patterns.
Finally, the researcher may observe how the children interact
with each other to learn who each kid plays with the most,
who they play with the least and if there are any groups of
friends among them.

• Step – 2: Outcome
User insights, this information needs to be then
analysed in order to make a sense out of it and
learn about key User issues.
• Analyze
“If I had an hour to solve a problem, I’d spend 55
minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes
thinking about solutions.” – Albert Einstein
• Step – 3: Outcome
A clear understanding of Use would help you to define
your Problem Statement. All of this would help you to
brainstorm and come up with solutions to solve the User
Problem
