Function:
1. Usamos el “Present Simple Tense” para hablar de cosas que suceden
habitualmente.
example: I talk to my mom on Sundays.

2. Se usa para hablar sobre generalidades y hechos científicos.


example: Elephants live in Africa

3. Se usa para instrucciones (imperativo)


example: Open the window.

EXAMPLE

• I walk 30 minutes a day.
• You eat healthy food.
• We laught a lot.

Grammar rules
A la mayoría de los verbos se les agrega una S cuando hablamos de “HE
- SHE -IT”
eat - eats walk - walks laught - laughts

• Cuando el verbo termina en S - SH - CH - X -O, agregamos ES

pass - passes wash - washes watch - watches

fix - fixes do - does


Cuando el verbo termina en consonante + y, eliminamos la
Ypara agregar ies

Cry - cries Try - tries


Example
• My baby cries a lot.
• He watches football on tv.
• Sara does exercise every day.
Exercises: Complete con el verbo en presente simple.

Negative form
• En la forma negativa del presente simple usamos el verbo auxiliar
Do/Does
• Al usar el verbo auxiliar ya no le agregamos S al verbo en la tercera
persona (he- she - it)

Example: I don’t like junk food


she doesn’t drink coca-cola

Interrogative form
En la forma interrogativa usamos el verbo auxiliar Do/Does
seguido del sujeto y el verbo principal.

Example: Do you like junk food? - Yes, I do


- No, I don’t
Does he go to the gym? - Yes, he does
- No, he doesn’t
