PRODUCTIVITY TOOLS
• also known as productivity software are software that people
use to create and produce professional quality documents,
presentations, databases, charts, graphs, and more
• These are computers applications that allow users to view,
create, and modify office documents quickly and easily.
OFFICE SUITE
• Also refers to ta collection of two or more
productivity applications that are bundled and
sold together.
• It typically includes a word processor,
spreadsheet creator, and presentation creator.
• Computer-based suites and web-based suites.
COMPUTER-BASED SUITES
• Requires the user to install the program itself on a computer using
DVD-ROM device, flash drives, or through online installation.
• iWork
• LibreOffice
• Microsoft Office
• OpenOffice
• WordPerfect
WEB-BASED SUITES
• Allows users to create, modify, and store files online.
• These packages are offered in the form of web applications.
• Google applications

TYPES OF PRODUCTIVITY TOOLS
• Database Software
• A database, also known as database management system, is made to verify,
manipulate, specify, retrieve and manage stored data.
• Presentation Software
• Is used for project presentations for both academic and business purposes.
• Spreadsheet Software
• Are programs used to sort, compute, and organize numerical data.
• Word Processing Software
• Is used to view, edit, and create text documents.
GRAPHICS
• Refers to any design or visual image, which
can be found in any surface, designed to
inform, illustrate, or entertain.
LAYOUT
• Is a part of graphic design that deals with
the arrangement of visual elements on a
page.
Graphics and layout principles
• Balance
• Refers to how the object, texture, colors and space are distributed to achieve equality or
stability.
• Emphasis
• Is a principle of art that occurs when an element is dominant and stands out from the rest.
• Movement
• Refers to the way the eye moves over a design.
• Pattern
• Is the creation on a design using repetitions of visual elements.
• Proportion
• Refers to the virtual size of an element within an image compared to other elements or
based on a recognized standard.
• Variety
• Is the use of different design elements to attract and retain attention. To use variety different
visual elements should be placed next to one another
Raster file and Vector file formats
• Raster file format
• Are resolution dependent, pixel-based graphics,
and typically used in photos, digital artwork, and
web graphics.
• Vector file format
• Are resolution independent, curved-based graphics,
and ideal for logos, icons, and text.
RASTER FILE FORMATS:
• GIF (.GIF)
• Stands for Graphic interchange format. It is a popular image file format commonly used for simple animations
and short video clips on the internet.
• JPEG (.JPEG)
• JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group, the committee that developed the JPEG standard for
compressing digital images. It is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital images, particularly
for photographs.
• PNG (.PNG)
• stands for Portable Network Graphics. It is a raster graphics file format that supports lossless data compression.
PNG was designed as an improvement and alternative to the GIF format, providing higher quality and more
flexibility. Unlike JPEG, PNG is a lossless compression format, meaning that no image data is lost during the
compression process.
• Raw
• In the context of digital photography, RAW refers to a file format that contains minimally processed data from
the image sensor of a digital camera.
• TIFF (.TIFF)
• stands for Tagged Image File Format. It is a versatile and widely used file format for storing raster graphics
images. TIFF files support lossless compression and can store high-quality images with multiple layers, color
depths, and resolutions.
Vector file formats
• .AI
• file extension is primarily associated with Adobe Illustrator, a popular vector
graphics editing software. Files with the ".ai" extension are Illustrator files,
and they contain vector graphics data.
• .PDF
• stands for Portable Document Format. It is a file format developed by Adobe
that preserves the visual formatting of documents and is designed to be
platform-independent.
PHOTO MANIPULATION
• Refers to the process of altering or changing
photographs through different methods and
techniques to achieve the desired results.
Basic Techniques of image manipulation
• Adding filters
• Filtering is the process of modifying or enhancing an image.

• Adjusting brightness and contrast


• Lightness and the darkness is the Brightness while the difference between the lighter and darker part is the contrast.

• Adjusting the Color balance


• The adjustment of the intensities of the colors.

• Changing the Background


• Is usually changed to match it with the subject or create a different look or feeling.

• Cloning
• This it the process of copying or duplicating a part of an image using various cloning tolls and it can also include the removal of unwanted parts of the
image.

• Combining Text, Graphics and image


• Will make the message of the artwork clearer by adding multiple elements in your layout.

• Compression and resizing


• Is the process of changing the size of an image as it appears on screen while image compression is the process of lowering the file size of the image without
comprising the resolution of an image.

• Cropping
• The process of removing of some unwanted or unnecessary areas of an image to improve its framing.

• Removing the color


• Removing or desaturating or editing certain colors of an image.
BASIC PRINCIPLE OF IMAGE
MANIPULATION
• Add a caption
• A good caption can tell the story of a photo in an instant.
• Choose the right file format
• Almost every graphic seen online is an image file, like graphics printed on
paper, plastic or shirts. Image file come in a variety of fformats, and each is
optimized for a specific use.
• Choose the right image size.
• The size and quality of an image is determined by a variety of things: file size,
file type, physical size, and resolution.
