INTRODUCTION
Soil acts as a reservoir and medium for water storage and movement.
Plant roots extract water from the soil through their root systems.
Water moves from regions of high soil moisture to lower moisture areas.
The frequency of irrigation of crops is higher in summers as water evaporates through the
transpiration process as well as through soil pores so evaporation is at a faster rate hence it is
required to overcome the loss of water.
Irrigation frequency is one of the important factors in irrigation management, especially for
porous soils . Studies have shown that increasing the frequency of irrigation can help plant roots
better absorb water in the soil, which is beneficial for increasing the yield of crops and the
CWUE .
CONCLUSION
Soil-water relationships play a vital role in agriculture.
Factors like soil texture, structure, and organic matter influence soil-water relationships.
Effective soil-water management strategies optimize water use and enhance crop productivity.
