What are landforms?


• Landforms are the natural
shapes or features called
landforms.
• There are many different
types of landforms found
on the earth.

A mountain is a
place on
Earth’s
surface that is
much higher
than the land
around it.
valley
A valley is a
lowland area
between
higher lands
such as
mountains.
canyon
A canyon
is a deep
valley with
very steep
sides.
plain
A plain is
a flat
area on
Earth’s
surface.
plateau
A plateau is
a flat area
higher than
the land
around it.
island
An island is
land that is
completely
surrounded
by water.
lake
A lake is
water that
is
completely
surrounded
by land.
ocean
Oceans are
the largest
bodies of
water on
earth.
coast
A coast is
the area
where the
ocean
touches
the land.
desert
A desert is
a hot dry
place with
little or no
rainfall.
river
A river
is a long
flowing
body of
water.

The Karakoram, or Karakorum is a large mountain range
spanning the borders of Pakistan, India, and China, with the
northwest extremity of the range extending to Afghanistan and
Tajikistan. It is located in the regions of Gilgit–Baltistan (Pakistan)

Indian Desert’ is located in the
Sindh province of Pakistan.
Tharparker Heart of deserts is a district that occurs in
the south east of Sindh.
Thal desert

This desert is located in the Province of Punjab on Sindsagar


Doab. It is a vast area between the Jehlum and Indus rivers
south of the Pothohar Plateau
Cholistan Desert

Cholistan Desert is situated 30 km


from Bahawalpur City. It is spread
over an area of 16,000 square
kilometers
Rivers of Pakistan
Ravi is the smallest of the five main eastern tributaries of Indus. It
rises in the Himalauans in Himachal Pardesh (India) and flows west –
Northwest past Chamba, turning Southwest at the boundary of Jammu
and Kashmir.
Sutlaj It is the longest river out of the five in Punjab . Its
location is south of the Hindu Kush, It is also known as the Red River
Indus: The creation of the embryonic Indus river system,
the main source of surface water in South Asia, most likely
began 50 million years ago
The Arabian Sea is a region of the
northern Indian Ocean bounded on
the north by Pakistan and Iran
