Introduction

• Data communication is the transfer of information between two or more devices over a network.
• The effectiveness of a data communication system depends on Four Fundamental
characteristics:

• Delivery
• Accuracy
• Timeliness
• Jitter
TRANSMISSION

• - Refers specifically transfer of data or information from one location to


another.- Involves the movement of bits, bytes, or signals through a
medium (e.g., wire, air, fiber optic).- For example :the email is transmitted
from the sender's device to the friend's device through the internet.
• Transmission is the specific process of moving data from one place to
another.
Accuracy

• Accuracy refers to the ability of data transmission system to dilever the Data
without errors.. The data should be received with same format that it was
sent.. The data should also be free of any errors
Delivery

• Delivery refers to ability of data transmission system to deliver correct to


the destinations. The data should be delivered with out errors or lost. The
data should also be delivered with timely manner
Timeliness

• Timeless refers to the ability of data transmission system to deliver the data
with a timely manner. The data should be delivered in without delay. The
data should also be delivered in a way that is responsive to the needs of user
Jitter

• Jittercause problems real time applications such as voice and video


connecting. The Data transmission system should minimize jitter as much as
possible .
• Jitteris refers to variations in delay between Data packets..Jiter cause
problems real time applications such as voice and video connecting ..the
Data transmission system should minimize jiter as much as possible.
