The day passes. Far below, horns honk, phones ring, children
chatter, and music blares. Nestled at the top of the tower block,
the room remains untouched. The bright mid-morning light is
now hiding; the air has turned even cooler, and delicate white
frost decorates the windowpanes like lace. A few pigeon
feathers have made their way through the holes in the plain
glass windows, but that doesn’t matter: the room will remain

One day, a new owner will locate the key for the lock; they will
lift away the cloths; they will shoo the pigeons from the
