existance, it was always
important to know what type od
weather they will have.We can
see through history how people
learned about weather changes
and how to predict them.

It was believed that rain was likely if a cat busily washed
its ears.

Cats could predict the wind by clawing at carpets and curtains.

If a cat sat with its back to the fire, it was foretelling a cold
snap and if it slept with all four paws tucked under, bad
weather was coming.

Some believed cats could start storms through magic, so sailors

always made sure cats were content.
If ants their walls do frequently build, rain will from the clouds
be spilled.

When bees to distance wing their flight, days are warm and
skies are bright;
But when their flight ends near their home, stormy weather is
sure to come.

The early arrival of crickets on the hearth means an early

winter.
Bad weather: Dogs are
capable of detecting bad
weather. People who enjoy
ownership of a dog can tell
this. Their dog starts to bark
or cuddle in their owner's lap
before we witness bad weather.
Whether it is a storm or
thunder, dogs are masters at
predicting the terrible
weather.
Depending on how low our feathered
friends are flying, we can gauge how bad
the weather is going to be. It’s been said
that if birds are flying high, the weather is
clear. But if they’re flying closer to the
ground, the air pressure of a storm system
is causing them pain at higher altitudes.
 RAINMAKING

• Rainmaking is a weather modification ritual that

attempts to invoke rain.
• Among the best known examples of weather
modification rituals are North American rain dances,
historically performed by many Native American tribes,
particularly in the Southwestern United States. Some of
these weather modification rituals are still implemented
today.

B.C., the Babylonians tried to predict short-
term weather changes based on the
appearance of clouds and optical
phenomena such as haloes.
The begining of meteorology

• The earliest information about Meteorology dates back

to 340 BC when Aristotle, the famous Greek scientist,
wrote Meteorologica, a book that gave a summary of
meteorology. The scientists who followed didn’t do
much on the study until about the 17th to 18th century
when the thermometer and the barometer were
invented.
Meteorologists are observers and
researchers. They note the physical
conditions of the atmosphere above them,
and they study maps, satellite data, and
radar information. They also compare
various kinds of weather data from local,
regional, and global sources.
