Top-up

Top-up is the action of storing vouchers on a container, either a contactless card or a

Smart Card. The top-up happens everytime a card is read by a Famoco device through
MPOS application.

The reading process carries out verification of the card content and determines if there
are futur vouchers missing on it. If so, those vouchers are immediately written in the
card.
Vouchers

A Voucher or E-voucher represents digital goods such as rice or currencies. We

distinguish two different types of vouchers :

➔ Value vouchers contain a predefined amount of money to be spent on a specific

list of commodities
➔ Commodity vouchers contain list of commodities with fixed prices
Beneficiary card

Beneficiary cards are contact or contactless cards that are given to each family that
benefits from the WFP aid program, those family are called Household.

➔ Gives entitlement based on number of qualified children in the Household

➔ Card has principal recipient name printed
➔ Card has principal and alternate recipient’s fingerprints
➔ Card also contains the e-voucher (what the family is entitled to)
➔ Each time the card is used, the balance on the voucher is reduced, so the
Household can not claim more than their entitlement
Retailer

A retailer is a partner of WFP that is doing commodity distribution and possibly

vouchers top-up. Each retailer has a contract with WFP to be a retailer.

A retailer is identified by a Username and a password provided by WFP. He also refers

to a specific country and/or local area in which he can distribute commodities.
Synchronization

The synchronization is the name given to the process of connection with remote
Famoco and WFP servers. It carries out multiple tasks :

➔ Upload all transactions stored in device and clear data when successfully
transferred
➔ Pull any changes in interventions settings
➔ Pull new vouchers from SCOPE
➔ Pull new users from SCOPE
➔ Pull application updates
