Technology, Humanity

and the future

When Technology and Humanity Cross
Why the Future Does Not Need Us
Artificial Intelligence (AI)
What do you think
Artificial Intelligence
is?
What is
Artificial Answer: The power of a machine
to copy intelligent human behavior.

Intelligence? Right???
Artificial
Intelligence in
Movies

In movies, robots are able to talk,

think, have emotions, and make
decisions just like humans.
What is Artificial
Intelligence?
Artificial Intelligence is the development of
computer systems that are able to perform
tasks that would require human intelligence.

Examples of these tasks are visual

perception, speech recognition,
decision-making, and translation between
languages.
Artificial
intelligence (AI)
intelligence demonstrated by machines, as opposed to intelligence of humans and
other animals. Example tasks in which this is done include speech recognition,
computer vision, translation between (natural) languages, as well as other mappings
of inputs.
AI applications include advanced web search engines (e.g., Google Search),
recommendation systems (used by YouTube, Amazon, and Netflix),
understanding human speech (such as Siri and Alexa), self-driving cars (e.g., Waymo
), generative or creative tools (ChatGPT and AI art), automated decision-making, and
competing at the highest level in strategic game systems (such as chess and Go).
Real Life A.I.
Examples

❏ Self Driving Cars

❏ Boston Dynamics
❏ Navigation
Systems
❏ ASIMO
❏ Chatbots
❏ Human vs
Computer Games
❏ Many More!
Weak A.I.
Machines with weak Artificial Intelligence are
made to respond to specific situations, but can
not think for themselves
Strong
A.I.
A machine with strong A.I. is
able to think and act just like a
human. It is able to learn from
experiences.

Since there are no real life

examples of strong A.I. yet, the
best representation would be
how Hollywood portrays robots.
Artificial Intelligence VS. Robot

AI Robot

Programmed to think Programmed to do

Social Interaction Low level interaction

Learns Only as smart as program

Artificial Intelligence Tests
Turing Test

Developed by Alan Turing

Involves an interpreter, a human, and a computer.

The computer and human have separate conversations with the interpreter.

If the interpreter can’t guess which is the computer or if the interpreter gets it wrong then the computer
has
Artificial Intelligence.
Machine
Learning

An application of
Artificial Intelligence that
gives machines the ability
to learn and improve
without the help of
humans or new
programming.
The Turing Test
In the 1950s Alan Turing created the
Turing Test which is used to determine
the level of intelligence of a computer.
Controversy of
Turing Test
Some people disagree with the Turing
Test. They claim it does not actually
measure a computer's intelligence.

Instead of coming up with a response

themselves, they can use the same generic
phrases to pass the test.
The Future of
A.I.

★ Healthcare
Examples
1.CleverBot 2.Autonomous Cars

3.Drones 4.Watson
Benefits of A.I.
The most important purpose of
A.I. is to reduce human
casualties in

➔ Wars
➔ Dangerous
Workspaces
➔ Car Accidents
➔ Natural Disasters

Or to just make everyday life

easier by helping with tasks
such as:

➔ Cleaning
➔ Shopping
➔ Transportation
Problems
Although AI is advancing it can still be
problematic.
AI Controversies

Potential job takeover

Growing laziness

Growing Cost

Priority Argument

Robot Relationships?
Why it Matters

In the future AI is going to be everywhere.

It is important to know about it and understand it.

This is because we may be interacting with it on a day to day basis.

We learned at Artemis about the different robots that use AI We also learned when

robots need AI and when they don’t.
