Types of computer

• WHAT IS COMPUTER?

• A computer is an electronic device that processes data and performs


tasks according to set instructions. It consists of hardware
components such as a central processing unit (CPU), memory,
storage, input/output devices, and software that controls its operation.
Computers are versatile machines used for various purposes,
including data processing, communication, entertainment, and more.
1. DESKTOP
COMPUTER
Desktop computers are personal
computers (PCs) designed for use by an
individual at a fixed location. Many use
desktop computers at work, home, and
school. It is intended to be placed on a
desk, and they are typically made up of a
few different parts including the
computer case, monitor, keyboard, and
mouse.
2. LAPTOP
COMPUTERS
Despite its huge popularity,
desktops gave way to a more
compact and portable personal
computer called a laptop in the
2000s. Laptops are battery-
powered computers that are more
portable than desktops, allowing
you to use them almost anywhere.
They also have chips for energy
efficiency so that they can
conserve power whenever
possible and have a longer life.
3. TABLET
COMPUTERS
After laptops, computers were further
miniaturized to create machines that
have the processing control of a
desktop but are small enough to be
held in one’s palm. Tablets are
handheld computers that are
undoubtedly more convenient and
instead of a keyboard and mouse,
they utilize a touch-sensitive screen
for typing and navigation. The iPad is
an example of a tablet.
4. SERVERS
Servers are computers with high
processing speeds that provide one
or more services to other
frameworks on the network. They
may or may not have screens
connected to them. A group of
computers or digital devices
associated together to share
resources is called a network. It
serves up data to other computers
on a network.
Other types of computers

Many of today's electronics are basically


specialized computers, here are a few common
examples.
1. SMARTPHONES
A smartphone may be a cellular
phone with an integrated
computer and other features not
initially related with an ordinary
telephone. Such features include
an operating system, web
browsing, and the capacity to run
program applications which are
presently indispensably to
everyday life.
2. WEARABLES
Wearable technology could be a
common term for a group of
devices including fitness trackers
and smartwatches that are
designed to be worn throughout
the day. Wearable tech is one of
the fastest-advancing sectors of
the more extensive technology
industry, presently outpacing the
improvement of smartphones.
3. GAME CONSOLES
A game console is a specialized
type of computer describes as a
gaming box or gadget that is
basically designed to play games
that connects to a TV. The player
interacts with the game through
a controller, a hand-held gadget
with buttons, and joysticks or
cushions.
4. SMART TV
In case you haven't bought a TV in a
few years, you could be astounded
to see that most TVs nowadays are
considered smart TVs, with
Internet connectivity and apps for
streaming and smart home
functions. Many TVs now include
applications or apps that let you
access various types of online
content.
PERSONAL COMPUTER (PC) AND
MACINTOSH (MAC)
• Personal computers (PC) come in two main styles: PC and Mac. Both
are fully functional, but they have a different look and feel, and
many people prefer one or the other.
• Macintosh computers, which are designed and sold by
Apple Inc., are generally more expensive than traditional
personal computers (PCs) that run on Windows or Linux
operating systems.
PERSONAL
COMPUTER (PC)
A personal computer (PC) is a
digital device designed for
individual use and is intended
to be operated directly by an
end user. It typically consists
of a central processing unit
(CPU), memory, storage,
input/output devices such as a
keyboard and mouse, and a
monitor.
MACINTOSH
(MAC)
Macintosh, often referred to as
Mac, is a brand of personal
computers designed,
manufactured, and sold by
Apple Inc. They are known for
their sleek design, user-friendly
interface, and high performance,
running on the macOS operating
system exclusive to Apple
hardware.
Computer is used in almost every field even where it is most
unexpected. That is why this age is called as the era of IT. And
now we cannot imagine a world without computers. These days
computers are the tools for not only engineers and scientists but
also, they are being used by millions of people around the world.
