tool maintenance
All tools and equipment must be properly maintained so that workers are not
endangered. Regulations require inspections of tools, machines and equipment before
use. Preventive maintenance is the systematic care and protection of tools, equipment
and machines in order to keep them in a safe, usable condition limit downtime and
extend productivity. We must always be aware that maintenance tasks themselves are
potentially hazardous and can result in injury. The successful maintenance program is:
● well organized and scheduled,
● controls hazards,
● defines operational procedures, and
● trains key personnel.

Graphical user interface (GUI), a
computer program that enables a person to
communicate with a computer through the
use of symbols, visual metaphors, and
pointing devices. A window is an area on the
screen that displays information, with its
contents being displayed independently from the
rest of the screen.
An icon is a small picture that represents objects such as a file,
program, web page, or command. They are a quick way to execute
commands, open documents, and run programs. Icons are also very
useful when searching for an object in a browser list, because in
many operating systems all documents using the same extension
will have the same icon.

Windows uses icons to graphically represent items, such as

programs and folders. This is part of Windows GUI, or graphical
user interface.
Ergonomics is the study of how a person’s
work environment and tools
affect the person. A person who designs
workspaces and tools that help people
do their jobs and use their tools comfortably
and safely is called ergonomists. There are
ergonomic keyboard and mouse, desk and
chair, and ball chair to help design a
workplace.
The Keyboard
The importance of learning the keyboarding skill enables the user to the
proper placement of the keys. Each button is designed to control the
different parts such as:
1. Function keys – represented by the most common F1 key. Each
function keys provide instructions to the computer for a certain task.
2. Special keys are those we use the most like the delete key and
1.
backspace key.
2.
3. Numeric keys – represented by numbers and special keys like (),
@.&,%, and #.
4. Pointing keys – these are used to move from different directions
5. Lock keys – used rarely on documents
6. Numeric keypad – used to enter a number from 0 to 9-
