Digital Synchronization Network

 The digital synchronization network is a vital part of modern communication network.

 It can exactly transmit synchronization information from primary reference clock (PRC) to
synchronization nodes in a synchronization network.
 The synchronization can be established and the requirements for transmission and
switching performance demanded by the telecom networks for service transmission can be
met.
 Time synchronization can ensure the quality of service and promote the maintainability.
 A network management system (NMS) without an accurate time stamp may miss frame
orders and degrade the maintainability.
 In the Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) network, the payload is transferred
asynchronously, but reading and writing pointers are always adjusted according to different
Rx and Tx rates.

BITS
 Frequency Synchronization
Locks the signal from the external reference clock.
Filters out the clock noise in the reference clock signal.
Outputs the clock signal of high accuracy.

 Time Synchronization
Traces the GPS signal or signals from other time sources of the upper stratum.
Generates the standard time that is synchronized with the coordinated universal time (UTC).
Provides the standard time in the NTP format for the downstream time clients.

 Re-Timing
Reads and outputs the service code stream with the highly accurate clock of the BITS

 Clock Performance Monitoring

MITU Function

• Communicating with the NMS through the Ethernet port, or

serial port.
• Monitors two channels of –48 V power inputs and two
channels of 3.3 V power supplies that the SRCU/SOCU
outputs to the TSOU/CCOU. Generates over voltage alarm
and under voltage alarm.
• Providing an alarm system, each board reports alarms to the
MITU board configured on the host. The host collects alarms,
filters and processes them, and reports the alarm information
to the maintenance terminal and outputs it to the remote alarm
port.

SRMU/SOMU Function

• The SRCU/SOCU boards receive the satellite timing signals,

4-channel line input signals, or ground input signals
processed by the LCIM board.
• Trace the satellite timing signal or line clock signal, filter the
phase noise of the signal and then output high accuracy clock
signal.
• Enter holdover mode when all reference signals lost.
• Provide G.811 clock accuracy when configured with GPS
receiver. Provide G.812 TNC (SRCU) or G.812 LNC (SOCU)
clock accuracy when not configured with GPS receiver.
• Measure TIE, MTIE, TDEV and △F/F of the reference signal.
• Boards are in 1:1 backup.

• 4 reference source input channels (No.1 and 2 channel are E1

signal channel. No. 3 and 4 channel are 2048kHz, 1MHz,
5MHz and 10MHz signal channel).
• 1 satellite signal input channel for each board when
configured with GPS receiver.
• 16 clock output channels, each channel can be E1, 2048kHz,
1MHz, 5MHz and 10MHz signal.
• 1 RS232 serial port and 1 Ethernet port for maintenance.
• 1 debugging port on each board for troubleshooting.

• Input of input interface clock signals
• Monitoring of input signal transmission parameters
• Input signal testing, such as time interval error (TIE),
maximum time interval error (MTIE), time deviation (TDEV),
and frequency accuracy)

Installing the Antenna
 Ground Point
To ensure surge protection, the antenna system should be grounded both
outdoors and indoors.
The outdoor ground point should be near the entrance from which the feeder
cable is routed in.
The feeder cable must be grounded indoors. You can ground it to the protection
ground bar or the cable ladder.
The distance between the ground point and the feeder cable should not exceed
one meter.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO., LTD. HUAWEI Confidential Page 20

Installing the Antenna
 Antenna Installation Position
To ensure the quantity of satellites that the antenna can receive, the antenna
should be installed in a position with enough visual range. The visible range
shall be over 50% of the whole sky.
Because the GPS satellite signal is weak and vulnerable to the interference of
other RF signals, install the GPS antenna in a position where there is no high-
power transmitter antenna.
For lightning protection, do not install the antenna at the corner of the roof. If
there is a lightning rod nearby, the antenna is recommended to be installed in 45
degree protection angle of the lightning rod.

Installing the Lightning Arrester
 Install the lightning arrester on the support. Put SURGE end of the
lightning arrester inward and PROTECT end of the lightning arrester
outward.
 If there is a special BITS cabinet, the lightning arrester support is
connected to the grounding bar on the right side of the cabinet with the
short PGND cable
