The document discusses a smart parking system using IoT that uses sensors and cameras along with software to inform users of vacant parking spaces. It describes the components including IR sensors and Arduino Uno, and how they work together to detect when cars arrive and leave and update the vacant parking slots. It discusses the advantages of reducing waiting time and fuel usage, and applications in malls, hospitals and more. The future may include self-parking vehicles and robotic parking valets.

8. Conclusion
WHAT IS IOT ?
• The Internet of Things(IoT) is the network of
physical objects or “Things” embedded with
electronics, software, sensors, and network
connectivity, which enables these objects to collect
and exchange data.
• IoT enables these objects to communicate and
interact with each other, creating a more
connected and automated environment.
SMART PARKING SYSTEM:

• Smart parking is an IoT (Internet of Things) solution that

uses sensors and cameras in combination with a software
to inform users of vacant parking spaces in a certain area.
• Most of the time, people can also directly reserve the spot
and pay for it with an app.
WHY IT IS NEEDED?
• People cannot find parking in popular places. Especially during holidays,
traffic is always bad.
• People cannot locate their car large parking slots.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
IR SENSOR:
• An infrared sensor(IR) is a device that detects infrared radiation in its environment
and outputs an electric signal.
• 3v to 5v power supply
• Current 23mA to 43mA
• Range is 2cm to 30cm
OPERATION OF IR SENSOR:
ARDUINO UNO:

• Arduino UNO is based on an ATmega328P microcontroller.

• The board consists of digital and analog Input/Output pins(I/O), shields, and
other circuits.
• The Arduino UNO has 14 digital input/output pins, labeled 0 through 13.
• These pins can be used for variety of purposes, including reading sensors,
controlling LEDs, and driving motors.
USES OF IR SENSOR AND ARDUINO UNO IN
SMART PARKING SYSTEM:

• When any car arrives or leaves, the IR sensor senses the car and
updates the Arduino UNO followed by the opening of the gates.
• The 6 slots have a respective sensor to sense the car and these
sensors update the vacancy of the parking and also help in
analysing which slot is empty or which slot is filled.
ADVANTAGES: DISADVANTAGES:

• Shorter waiting time

• Cost
• Saves fuel
• Complexity
• Guided to nearest place
• Privacy concerns
• Reduce carbon emission
APPLICATIONS:

The smart car parking system can be implemented in :-

• Shopping malls
• Restaurants
• Theatres
• Hospitals
FUTURE SCOPE:

• The future of the smart parking system is expected to be

significantly influenced by the arrival of automated vehicles (AVs).
• Several cities around the world are already beginning to trail self
parking vehicles, specialized AV parking lots, and robotic parking
valets.
CONCLUSION:

• The system benefits of smart parking go well beyond avoiding time

wasting.
• Developing a smart parking solutions with in a city solves the
pollution problem.
