THEY'RE THE SWEET TREATS WE LOOK FORWARD TO AFTER A MEAL OR AS A SPECIAL TREAT DURING THE DAY. TYPES OF DESSERTS PUDDING, PIES, AND TARTS The pudding are typically soft and creamy desserts, often made with milk, eggs, sugar, and various flavorings. Pies consist of a pastry crust filled with sweet or savory ingredients. Tarts are similar to pies but typically have a shallower crust and are often open-faced. They can also be sweet or savory. VARIETY OF CAKES AND CAKE SPECIALTIES Cake is a sweet dessert that is typically baked and enjoyed on various occasions such as birthdays, weddings, and celebrations. Meringues and Crepes Meringue is a sweet dessert made from whipped egg whites and sugar. It can be baked until crisp or used as a topping for pies and cakes. Crepes are thin, delicate pancakes that originated in France. ICE CREAM Ice cream is a frozen dessert made from a mixture of cream, sugar, and often flavorings such as vanilla, chocolate, fruit, or nuts. FRESH AND PROCESSED FRUITS Processed fruits undergo various methods of preservation, such as canning, freezing, drying, or juicing, to extend their shelf life and make them available year-round. DONUTS AND SHORTCAKES Donuts are sweet, fried dough confections that are often shaped like rings or filled with cream, jelly, or other sweet fillings.
