At the end of the unit, the students should be able to:

2. Appraise government policies pertaining to science and
technology in terms of their contributions to nation building; and
3. Identify actual science and technology policies of the government
and appraise their impact on the development of the Filipino nation.

• Comprehensive plan developed by DOST to guide country’s research and
development efforts.
• The agenda is designed to address the Philippines’ most pressing
challenges and promote economic growth and social progress through
application of science and technology.

Gregorio Y. Zara
• Known as the “Father of Philippine Invention,” Zara was a physicist and
