INTRODUCTION
• Power quality has become very important issue in the
market. It is very important to protect our electrical
devices against different faults occurring in system.
• Now a day software based protection system is
coming in the market and becoming more efficient
and reliable.
• In this project, an experimental system based on
Arduino microcontroller board was developed for
measuring electrical quantities overvoltage and
undervoltage conditions in a power supply system.
AIM AND OBJECTIVE
• To achieve the aim and objectives of this work,
the following are the steps involved
• Study of the previous work on the project so
as to improve it efficiency.
• Draw a block diagram.
• Design and calculation for the device was
carried out.
• Studying of various component used in circuit.
SCOPE OF STUDY
• The scope of a project for an Over Voltage and
Under Voltage Monitoring System using
Arduino Uno and an LCD would typically
encompass several key aspects, including
hardware design, software development,
testing, and documentation.
METHODOLOGY
• For successful completion of this project some
steps will be followed to carry out different
tasks. Power fluctuation was burning issue as
we saw in Maharashtra electric power utility
during internship program.
PROJECT PLANNING
• The project plan given below shows the
progress of project work and detailed
activities to be carried out throughout the
year for the completion of project work.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
CIRCUIT WORKING
• The potentiometer is adjusted to set the threshold levels
for over-voltage and under-voltage.
• The analog pin A0 of the Arduino reads the voltage level.
• The voltage level is then converted to an actual voltage
value.
• The LCD displays the voltage value along with any over-
voltage or under-voltage alert messages.
• If the voltage exceeds the over-voltage threshold, it
displays "OVER VOLTAGE!" on the first line of the LCD.
• If the voltage falls below the under-voltage threshold, it
displays "UNDER VOLTAGE!" on the first line of the LCD.
• If the voltage is within the acceptable range, the first line of
the LCD is cleared.
HARDWARE REQUIREMENT
• The hardware of the experimental system is designed to measure
electrical quantities monitor overvoltage and under voltage conditions in
single-phase power supply.
• Various components used for constructing the device given described as
follows
• Aruino Uno Potentiometer
• LCD Display Light Emitting
Diode

• Resister Other Tools

COSTING ANALYSIS
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
• Keil µVision IDE
• MC Programming Language: Embedded C
• Operating System: Windows 10 Programming
• Language: Embedded c
• Compiler : Arduino compiler
• IDE : Arduino uno
• Arduino IDE: Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment)
is a software platform that enables a user to program Arduino or
any controller of the ATmega family.
• The back-end of this software is developed using JAVA. This IDE
provides a user the liberty to program an Arduino using C
language.
DESIGN
• PCB Designing
• It is a drawing made from a photo plotter or
using a tape or a marker pen and good quality
oil plant .It shows the circuit to be etched on
the board. Targets are used to register the art
work the circuit work with other art work.
TESTING AND TROUBLE SHOOTING
• In order to carry out the fault finding the service engineer
has to follow the set procedure which involves voltage
measurement at various points, wave points at different
points, etc. Need of trouble shooting:
• Every electronic circuit has the aim to give certain
performance.
• However due to many reasons the circuit does not give the
expected Performance.
• The circuit then needs to be repaired to ensure its
satisfactory performance.
• This underlines the necessity of the trouble shooting.
RESULT
• The system accurately measures the input voltage and
provides real-time display on the LCD screen.
Additionally, it effectively detects over voltage and under
voltage conditions and provides visual alerts on the LCD
screen, ensuring timely notifications to the user.
FUTURE SCOPE
• Integration with additional sensors for temperature
monitoring or power consumption measurement.
• Implementation of remote monitoring capabilities
using wireless communication protocols such as Wi-
Fi or Bluetooth.
• Incorporation of an audible alarm system for
enhanced alert notifications.
• Development of a user interface for configuration
settings and data logging.
ADVANTAGES
• By continuously monitoring voltage levels, the
system can provide early warnings of potential
issues.
• The primary advantage is protection for sensitive
electronic devices.
• Arduino Uno and LCD components are relatively
inexpensive compared to dedicated monitoring
systems.
• Arduino Uno is designed to operate efficiently on
low power.
APPLICATIONS
• Home Electrical System Monitoring: It can be used to
monitor the voltage levels of the main power supply
entering a house.
• Industrial Equipment Monitoring: In industrial
environments, sensitive equipment such as CNC machines,
PLCs, and control systems require stable voltage inputs.
• Telecommunication Systems: Telecommunication
equipment, such as routers, switches, and servers, are
susceptible to damage from voltage spikes or sags.
• Data Centers: Data centers house critical IT infrastructure
that must operate within specific voltage parameters.
