The document discusses nuclear energy, including its definition as energy from nuclear reactions and radioactive elements. It describes sources like uranium and plutonium, and notes disasters like Chernobyl. The text outlines the process of nuclear fission in power plants and advances in India. It also discusses uses, benefits, and disadvantages of nuclear energy.

Nuclear energy
By-Vedaant Ravikar Definition
• Nuclear energy is the use of nuclear reactions and
radioactive elements to create electricity. • It is a quite unstable form of energy because there can be chances of nuclear explosions and disasters. • One example is the Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine when a nuclear factory had a nuclear leakage causing the town’s people to evacuate. • The disaster was so radioactive that even though it happened 40-50 years ago, the town is still very dangerous. • Also, Nuclear energy is an alternative energy. Sources of nuclear energy • Many radioactive elements like Uranium,Plutonium,Radium, and Polonium, are harnessed from the earth to create nuclear energy.’ • This is the reason Nuclear energy is such an alternative energy because even a small amount of it can make a lot of energy. Also, it does not harm the environment although it can if not handled properly • Some elements like Protactinium are so toxic that they have to be sealed and kept in special boxes and when used are used very cautiously. • In nuclear factories the atoms of these elements are splitted. • This is because when an atom is broken down and split it can cause it can cause intense energy bursts. This breaking down of atoms is called fission.
Process • These atoms are kept in pressure
chambers. The pressure in these chambers are kept intensely high at all times because only intensely high pressures manage to split the atom. • After the atom is split, the energy that comes out is harnessed and then is converted into electricity. Advancements in nuclear energy INDIA
Two of the most biggest and most important
energy power sectors in India-NTPC and NPCIL signed an agreement to open up more nuclear power plants and increase the use of nuclear energy in the country. Labelled diagram In the reactor the atoms are split to create energy. Uses an benefits of Nuclear energy • Although it can be unstable, nuclear energy is extremely helpful. • Here are some uses. 1. Nuclear energy doesn’t actually pollute the environment. This is because the factories do not emit any harmful or toxic gases. It’s actually just pure water vapour. 2. Even a very small amount of nuclear energy can power 1000s of homes. 3. Nuclear energy can help us put aside fossil fuels before we switch fully to renewable energy. Disadvantages of nuclear energy
• Although Nuclear energy has many pros we
must also known the cons. • Here are some examples. 1. Nuclear energy can sometimes escape the power plant and contaminate soil and water. 2. A lot of nuclear waste is dumped into the sea which can cause death of animals or abnormal mutations due to the radiation. 3. Many of the people that work at nuclear factories are always at risk of getting radioactive poisoning. Here the places you can find Nuclear energy These points define nuclear power plants where nuclear energy is converted into energy. Nuclear energy (statics)
• France uses the most
nuclear energy (76%) • 32 countries majorly use Nuclear energy. • The country that uses the least nuclear energy is eritrea. Credits • www.Bing.com • https://byjus.com/ • https://education.nationalgeographic.org/ • www.Wikipedia.com
