Abstract

The revolutionary advancements in nanotechnology have introduced

unprecedented possibilities in the electrical and electronics sector. The
emergence of Internet of Things (IoT) devices based on nanomaterials
signals the onset of the eagerly anticipated fourth industrial revolution in the
21st century, marking the advent of an extraordinary era characterized by
intelligent systems.
The application of nanomaterials in electronic devices has transformed the
electronics industry across various domains, spanning from the production
of electronic components to the development of nanobots.

INTRODUCTION

The meaning of the term nanotechnology is any

technology operating on the nanoscale which has
applications in the real world, that is, to employ single
atoms and molecules to form functional structures [1].
The field of nanotechnology involves the creation and
utilization of chemical, physical, and biological systems
with structural features between single atoms or
molecules to submicron dimensions, and also the
assimilation of resultant nanostructures into larger
systems.

The impact of Ramsden 2016-12-31 This chapter recapitulates much of the

nanotechnology material of the preceding chapters,
showing how nanotechnology is already
affecting, or has the potential to affect,
society. The focus is on the big three
fields of information technology, health
and energy. As well as purely technical
aspects, commercial and social
implications are also discussed.
Definition
Nanoscience studies are those that deal with
matter and systems having the following key
properties:
❏ Have at least one dimension less than 10
nm.
❏ Utilize methodologies that illustrate the
fundamental control of the physical and
chemical characteristics of molecular-
scale structures (process).
❏ Permit the manufacture of larger
structures (building block property).
“Here I stand, atoms with
consciousness, matter with
curiosity. A universe of
atoms, an atom in the
universe.”

Conclusions
Nanotechnology is one of the most talked about technologies
today. The applica- tion of nanotechnology in modern
electronic devices, especially memory devices, nanoscale
transistors, nanosensors, etc., improves the devices'
functionalities. Not only is the power consumption in
nanoelectronic devices reduced drastically but also the
weight and thickness of the devices are decreased.
