software package per process device
in the past.
 The introduction of PROFIBUS
could have led to the duplication of
the SIPROM packages. New versions
of WINDOWS and faster PCs
require modification of software. This
scenario did not make any economic
sense.

languages, English, French,German,
Italian and Spanish.
 The target for SIMATIC PDM is to
be the one and only manager of the
process devices in a plant.
 The majority of customers like this
approach.

Alternatives are as follows:
PROFIBUS PA: Integration
via PROFILE 3 DDs
HART: Integration as generic
device (works always, but
limited of parameters)
Integration via HART DDs
(this is an unique feature of
SIMATIC PDM)
• DD-Library of the HART
Communication Foundation is
integrated as standard. This
library contains hundreds of
DDs. There is currently no
other tool on that market that
includes the HCF library.

 With SIMATIC PDM LifeList you can scan DP and PA chains and determine
what HART devices are connected to a HART Modem.
 You can specify whether the scan process is run once or in cycles and whether
subnets should also be scanned.
 You can change the addresses and TAGs for devices directly in the LifeList, and
you can apply these changes to existing projects.
