STEM in
TVET
You've likely heard the term STEM,
• but what does it stand for? STEM is an acronym for science, technology,
engineering, and math. These four fields share an emphasis on
innovation, problem-solving, and critical thinking. And together they
make up a popular and fast-growing industry

• Most STEM workers use computers and other technology in their day-to-
day jobs. Many also use the scientific method to test hypotheses and
theories.
What exactly is STEM?
• The STEM education movement advocates moving away from
segmented content areas, emphasizing technology to connect the
subjects, and relating teaching to the outside world.

• STEM impresses 21st-century skills acquisition so that students

gain proficiency in collaboration, questioning, problem-
solving, and critical thinking.
STEM in TVET
Goals of STEM in TVET
• Employability - Employability means being equipped with
knowledge, skills, and attitudes that enable an individual to be
able to secure a job.
• Proactive citizenship - proactive citizenship means contributing
to nation-building as well as being a responsible global and digital
citizen
• Human flourishing - is the highest form of self-actualization. It
means that an individual can flourish and prosper not only for
himself/herself but also for others, regardless whether
circumstances are favorable or not.
