Communication Device
A communication device is something that allows electronic
devices (like computers, phones, or tablets) to talk to each
other. Examples include routers, modems, network cards, and
wireless adapters. They help these devices share information
through things like cables, Wi-Fi, or cellular networks.
COMMUNICATION DEVICE
Medom
Router
Modem
Modem Stand for Modulator & Demodulator, it is a
network device that is placed between the computer
system and telephone line.
It has two part modulator & demodulator. Modulator
Convert digital Signal to analog Signal Were as
demodulator Convert analog to digital signal.
Disadvantages:
• Complex Setup
• Reliability on Power and Internet
• Security Vulnerabilities
What is switch and its example?
A switch may be operated manually, for example, a light switch
or a keyboard button, or may function as a sensing element to
sense the position of a machine part, liquid level, pressure, or
temperature, such as a thermostat.
What is a hub example?
A center of activity: focal point. The island is a major tourist
hub. : an airport or city through which an airline routes most of
its traffic.: a central device that connects multiple computers on
a single network (see network entry 1 sense 3b)
What is the function of hub and switch?
A hub is a networking device that connects multiple PCs to a
single network, whereas a Switch connects multiple devices on a
single computer network. A hub operates on the OSI physical
layer, whereas a switch operates on the OSI data link layer.
What is switches with example?
A network switch connects devices in a network to one another
and enables them to "speak" by exchanging data packets.
Examples of these devices include computers, printers, and
wireless access points. Switches can be software-based virtual
devices or hardware devices that control physical networks.
Wireless Adapter
A wireless adapter is a hardware device that is attached to a
computer or laptop and allows it to connect to a wireless
network. Typically, they come in the form of a USB dongle
device that you input into your computer
network interface controller
A network interface controller (NIC, also known as a network
interface card, network adapter, LAN adapter or physical
network interface, and by similar terms) is a computer
hardware component that connects a computer to a computer
network.
GATEWAY
• Gateway is a devise that act as an entry point between different
networks.
• It helf facilitate communication.
• Data transfer
Used
• Gateways are often used to connect local area network to
the internet.
• It act (create) a gate between two network.
ADVANTAGE:
• Connection
• Data transfer
• We can’t access
• The internet without a gateway.
DISADVANTAGE:
• Configuring and managing a network gateway can becomplen.
• If a network fails, it can disrupt connectivity between networks.
REPEATER:
A repeater is an electronic device that receives a signal and
retransmits it.
A repeater is an electronic device in a communication channel that
increases the power of a signal.
TYPES:
• Telephone repeater.
• Amplifier in a telephone line.
• Optical repeater.
Network devices
Bridge
• Bridge is a network device that is used to
separate LAN into number of section.
Advantages:
• By using bridge device we can extend network.
• It broadcast the data to each node like HUB and
repeater .
• Collision can be reduced easily .
• It is more intelligent.
Disadvantages :
• Once it broadcast the message then it is
incapable to stop the messages.
• It is more expensive.
• The transmission rate of data is slower than
repeater .
Firewall
• Some security rules by which system monitor
the incoming and outgoing network traffic .
Types:
• Packet-filtering firewall
• Circuit-level gateways
• Application level gateway
• Next generation firewall
• Dis-advantages :
• Internal network attacks
• Complex operation
• User restrictions
