Existing Setup
• Currently following Silkbank corporate offices have wireless access points installed in
standalone mode.
- 20th, 21st & 22nd Floor, Central Office, Centre Point Building, Karachi.
- 3rd Floor, President Office, 6-Q Block, Gulberg, Lahore.
• The wireless access points are installed as standalone units and can not be managed
centrally.
• Central security and administration policy couldn’t be applied.
• They are also end of life.
Proposed in Budget 2019
• IT budgeted USD 10,000/- to procure and install new wireless access points with better
coverage and security features.
• The setup will be included a wireless controller to centrally manage all access points.
• Existing compatible access points can be included in controller setup, hence they will also
be managed centrally. 1

PBX for COK & Shahra-e-Faisal
• Avaya PBXs were procured in 2009 & 2010 to cater communication needs of the
bank.
• COK and Shahra-e-Faisal building were covered.
Current Issues
• They are already end of life and support from the principle since more than 04 years.
• Call recording for Treasury front and back offices is also on existing PBX.
• No local and principle support available.
• Business highly depends on these systems and failure could cause business loss.
Option 1:
• Upgrade existing Avaya PBXs along with treasury recording system.
• This will save our existing licenses which are Silkbank’s property.

PBX for COK & Shahra-e-Faisal
Option 2:
• Replace the PBXs with any other brand, like Siemens, Alcatel, Panasonic etc.
• Existing Avaya Licenses will be lost along with all IP phones currently installed.
Option 3:
• Replace treasury’s recording with free open source “Asterisk” software.
• Keep the existing PBXs running with local vendor support.
Issues with this Option
• Upon failure, the downtime could increase because of non availability of parts.
• May be the part remain unavailable and an emergency replacement of the whole PBX
will be required.
